  1. oh no, @Need Coffee in an IV!

at least you still got to say goodbye and your dog got to hear your voice.

I've been snuggling with mine. Even extended my break for a little extra time with him before I have to go back to school/ work.

Have any of you decided to make some changes from last semester to this one? I'm trying to schedule my time/ direct my energy more so I'm not sitting in an office wondering what I should do.

I've thought about bullet journaling to see if it helps, but it  looks like so much work

  2. Yall. I took my final on Tuesday and drove home on Wednesday. 12 HOURS!! The semester was okay. I've given myself a few pep talks and am cool with whatever grades I get as long as I keep funding. But it feels great to be away from school and with my parents and dog.

Are any of you still doing work over the break or just relaxing and prepping for next semester? I'm using this as literature review and data analysis time.

  3. I feel like times in my department are pretty free flowing. I get in around 9/10 am and leave between 4 and 6 some days. We're only required to do 20 hr a week, but I like to get everything for the day done while I'm on campus. Leaving at 5 is horrendous. Buses are crowded and there's always a huge line at the stop signs/lights. I'd rather come in late and stay late than get in early.

I also don't really like hanging out with my roommate so I enjoy being in the lab and not around her as much as I can.

  4. @Effloresce My roommate is similar. She'll cook large meals (that don't even look appetizing) and leave dirty spatulas and food remnants on the counter for days. If it's on the side where my dishes are, then I move it to her counter and leave it. I think we're at the point in our lives where you should KNOW to clean up after yourself, especially when you live with someone else.

I'll be so ready when this lease is up. I'm sure I'll like her more when I don't live with her.

You should mention it to her. The worse that happens is she doesn't change, but at least you made her aware of your concerns.

  5. A LOT of the undergraduates look so similar, they kind of blend into each other. There were some drunk sorority girls on the bus last night, and by some, I mean like, 30. It was odd. even the bus driver was displeased.

Did they know it was Tuesday?

ALSO, I went to trivia at one of the bars in downtown SC and it was super fun! I keep wanting a weekend off but grad school is saying a hefty NO. Project stuff this weekend and class stuff next weekend. I should have a Saturday to sleep in maybe around mid-September/ early October.

  6. @Effloresce Is a mechanical keyboard super different than a normal keyboard? I feel like my mac keyboard is pretty clickety, but if I can get clickety AND clackety, that'd be amazing. Don't let your diagnosis stop you from living the life you want/can! You take it day by day like we all do!

A tattoo sounds splendid! I keep putting it off, but I kind of want to convert one of mine into a sleeve. Maybe if I get this NSF grant, I'll treat myself. What are you looking into getting? Has anyone else noticed that tattoos are super common now? I'm in love with it!

I gave myself a Friday deadline for a scholarship draft that I have yet to start. I'm about to dedicate and hour to it before bed. And then find a place I can run away to tomorrow to finish up. So much furious typing is about to happen!

  7. @jlt646 i did mt nittany last week and almost died! i was not used to the steepness + the heat. but there were some nice bugs, so i should go back when it's cooler to collect!

I wanna get coffee tomorrow! But i have a project thing from 10 to 5 :( . Have ya'll been to Tadashi? It's really good and in downtown! Parking downtown is free on sundays!

@hippyscientist i didn't know g love and special sauce were coming here! i only know "milk and cereal"

Powerlifting team at PSU? I'm so interested in taking advantage of athletics here, but I feel unsure about joining things with undergrads. How did you find the info?

@hippyscientist told me about it! I've been lifting weights off and on and think joining a team would make me more consistent. I thought About the grad student/ undergrad dynamic too, but I don't think it'd be too much of an issue since we'd have the powerlifting stuff in common.

I'm also eyeing the belly dancing club but i'd have to make sure my schedule would gel with it.

@Neist my project is going well! we're in the beginning stages. giving materials out and whatnot. i'm actually in one of the labs right off campus waiting on a couple of participants now to give them some stuff.
