I'm also American and haven't heard anything. It seems like very few have heard anything from Georgetown at this point.

What makes you think it will be this week? Have you heard from the department?

Obviously a personal decision that you'll need to make, but it may be worthwhile to reach out to your past advisers, letter writers, and professors and see what they think. I've always received great advice this way.

Has anyone been accepted to Columbia for AP? If so, any info on that? I know there was an AP wait list, but haven't seen any acceptances.

I believe you notify the program that you would like to be removed from the wait list. Or at least that's what I've been told by one program.

It's very strange how some applicants are arbitrarily notified -- some by phone, some by e-mail, some via the website, some not at all -- even within departments and subfields.

Saw that too - seems a bit early based on previous years. Maybe ahead of schedule.

I am really only joking. My parents encourage me to do whatever it is that I want with my life. What I meant is that the idea of spending more time in school studying something that's rather abstract is somewhat foreign to my parents who grew up in a generation where you graduate, get a job, work for X number of years, retire, etc. People have different ideas of "success" and there do appear to be strong differences along generational lines. That's all.

I tell my parents I want to get a PhD in political science and they look at me like I have three heads.
