  1. I don't think it matters at all. I think it's just for statistical purposes. That said, I would just put them as your #1 and move on just in case. Haha. Also, I'm currently at ND and also applying for the PhD. Let me know if you have any questions!
  2. Currently an MTS student at Notre Dame. If anyone has any questions about the school or the program, shoot them my way!
  3. I'm applying to Brown for the Assyriology and Egyptology program.
  4. Currently a second-year MTS student at Notre Dame in biblical studies. Got my first MA from UGA in Hebrew Bible. I was invited for PhD interviews after my first Master's and was told that I was very close to making it in. They extended the MTS offer so I took it. I'll be applying to Chicago, UCLA, Harvard, Hopkins, and ND. If anyone has questions about ND, drop me a line.
  5. Not Notre Dame. Source: am here. am very poor as a TA.
  6. I (and a few others I've spoken with) emailed the school and received emails from Professor Strawn stating that we were waitlisted. They accepted three people. One person rejected and two were undecided. I'm really hoping they let people know what the deal is soon.
  7. Any other news on Emory HB?
  8. I'm right there with you. I felt like a dead lock for a PhD position at Notre Dame but it looks like I'll be getting an MTS these instead. It's definitely better than nothing! Stoked for you!
  9. Same thing for me. I hope they get back soon. I have an offer from Notre Dame for an MTS so I need to start making life decisions very soon.
  10. I'll be there! I was originally scheduled to read a paper in the last session on Sunday but they shifted my paper to 4:30 on Saturday.
  11. Oh I'll certainly be taking the position. I'm going to email Emory today to check my status. But barring getting in there, I'll definitely be at Notre Dame next year. After visiting, it instantly became the number one school on my list.
  12. Hopefully they send good news my way. But I know they already had an interview weekend to which I was not invited. So we'll see. Both of my professors are good friends with several of the faculty at Emory. Maybe I have good news coming down the pipeline.
  13. I was just rejected from Notre Dame (my number one choice) with the added caveat that I would be a lock for the MTS program. That one really hurt. I interviewed with them and felt really great about my chances. My only remaining school this go around is Emory and I haven't heard from them since January. So things aren't looking great this go around.
  14. I am wrapping up my MA from the University of Georgia. I was funded for three years and received a full tuition waver. The pay was relatively low (11,500 over 9 months) but I luckily had money saved up before entering my studies. I also maintained a second job in addition to studying and teaching. The best thing (and to my knowledge, UGA is the only MA program to do this) is that you get to teach. Not TA, but teach. You are an instructor of record. You write your own syllabus, teach your own material, etc. It has been a major selling point in my PhD applications so far. I loved my masters institution and I think its religion program (particularly Hebrew Bible) is really underrated.
  15. Is anyone else in here interviewing with Notre Dame this weekend? I just landed in Chicago and I'm taking a bus over to South Bend. I'm curious if anyone else in this thread will be there as well.
  16. It looks like everyone who is posting is referring to the CSR section. Definitely waiting to hear from NELC.
  17. It looks like people have begun to receive acceptance information from Harvard! Anyone in here? Congratulations if so. I'm obviously waiting anxiously to see if anyone contacts me in the next couple of days.
  18. I'm the opposite. I completed my application with more than enough time, but two of my recommenders didn't get their letter in until the days after it was due! I would have been quite frustrated if they weren't two of my favorite people on earth.
  19. Ok. So has anyone applied to Emory and not heard back at all yet? I'm expecting a rejection call sometime soon, but I feel like it's strange that I haven't heard anything. I'm still waiting to hear from Harvard and PTS, but I hear they've begun to make some decision on things in the last couple of days.
  20. I applied and haven't received a rejection yet either. To be honest, though, I'm expecting it. I've kinda made my peace with it.
  21. It looks like a couple of people have posted their acceptance to Emory. Anyone in here?
  22. I got a rejection email from Florida State for the PhD program in Religions of Western Antiquity. It was a very nice email from the POI. Kinda worried about not getting into my safety school.
  23. I was told by someone in my department that the faculty at Harvard is meeting this week to further discuss applications. Take that for what it's worth.
  24. That's good to know. I appreciate it. I'm really excited/scared at the moment. I'm hoping to hear back from other programs soon as well.
  25. Sorry about that. I have been asked to interview by Notre Dame. I also applied to Emory. I know there recruitment weekend is in two days, but I've been told by all of my professors (they all have quite close connections with the professors there) not to worry too much about that. I also applied to Harvard, PTS, and Florida State.
