  1. So I applied to ASU's LLT program as a backup. Anyone else an applicant in this year's cycle? Any thoughts on this program? I like how ASU has been named the most innovative university and also how since starting the new LLT program, ASU's college of ed has risen to #14 in the USNews rankings. Not sure how much that matters. 4 years of funding though, but it's really good funding.
  2. What about TLD? I wouldn't worry too much about today being the cutoff day. For one, only one person has gotten an interview so far. You would think there are more Vandy applicants checking this website, so I feel reasonably confident that when interview invites go out, we'll see more show up on the results page of Grad Cafe. Two, today seems like a terrible day to call. Maybe they're going to email their invites, but I think Vandy is the type to call (assumption here). If they call and you don't answer, they're most likely not going to talk to you until Tuesday when they're back in the office, which is a long time to hold off a prospective student. I feel like today is another day to spend waiting and Tuesday will be the more likely contact day.
  3. I keep checking my application status thinking there will be a "REJECTED YOU FAIL" hidden in fine print somewhere I'm not expecting.
  4. I got the same email this morning. I about collapsed into tears when I read the subject "Thank you for applying...." I assumed it was a rejection. I wonder if they are calling "acceptable" applicants for interviews as they find them or if they are compiling a big list to contact at once?
  5. Freakout Question - I just checked my application status and noticed on the list of "Received" items, there's no option for my statement of purpose. This is for the Teaching and Learning program. Anyone else have this missing from the application checklist? I know I wrote one and would have definitely uploaded it before submitting. I assume it would have kicked back the application if it was incomplete. I'm just psyching myself out at this point.
  6. I've been accepted into a PhD program in Arizona that it is only a few years old. It has competitive funding, some known scholars, and a lot of resources for graduate students to do projects. But there's no job placement history. No dissertations to look at. No national reputation built by alums. I'm really interested in the work and the location, but I worry about landing a tenure track position after graduating.
