  1. I've been invited to a few interviews and excited to get them underway! But first hoping y'all can help clarify a few things... 1. How long should I expect the interview to last? They're all during the week, mostly in the evening time since I work full time. 2. I'm also wondering which questions to expect? I'm already prepared for the "Why this program" and "What are your research interests" questions 3. How long after an interview can you expect an answers? 4. What are some questions you asked? I know each program is different, but some insight from those who have already started to interview would be really helpful!
  2. Hey! I think it all depends on the program and the "whole package." TC has over 100 programs and some are more competitive than others--also, some years the applicant pool is more competitve pool than others. The good news is that I know TC looks at the entire application and even though you're weak in one area, you can lift up your application with the other factors--GRE scores, work experience, LOR and overall research "fit" with faculty. I think that if the other factors are strong then you still have a shot! I applied to TC (still waiting to hear back) with a less than stellar undergrad GPA, but my grad school GPA is nearly a 4.0 and I have good work experience, LOR, GRE scores and fit with two of the faculty members. I've been invited in for an interview, so I hope that's a good sign! Before I applied I went to an open house and spoke to an admissions rep. I gave him all my qualifications and asked him the same thing you're asking now--do I have a shot? and he said to apply. No way to know until you try it Good Luck!
  3. Also keep in mind that he may admit 3 knowing that only 1 or 2 will accept! I think this is a good sign
  4. Like all of us, I am eagerly awaiting decisions back from the schools I've applied to. Next week, I have an interview at my top choice school. I know what kind of questions to expect (Research interests, why here, what are you goals, etc)...but the things is, I've already answered these questions when I visited the school earlier in the application process. I met one of the faculty members (who I hope will be my advisor!) during a school visit (sat in on a class, took a tour and then spoke to the professor afterwards for about an hr). She grilled me on all these questions already, which I wasn't expecting but in retrospect, I totally should have. In any case, I sort of rambled my way through my nervous, half-thought out responses. Since then, I've submitted my application and now I've been invited to interview. So, to calm my nerves, this must be a good sign right? One of the main people who is making the decision has already met me and heard these answers, reviewed my application and now they've invited me back?
