Yeah, that's exactly what I would have included. I love my academic advisor (she wrote one of my letters), and she has been there to calm me down for panic-induced freak outs throughout my college experience and is just wonderful. That's really surprising to me that it hasn't had more impact :/

Wow. I think that's really weird. Did you try to spin that aspect of it into your personal statement? Ahh! Congrats, my inbox is still empty

Yeah, I was gonna mention that. Rejections look like they came out almost 2 weeks later.

Exactly! I am feeling the same way! I just checked the results for last year though and it appears both rejections and interviews were sent out as emails! So hopefully it's the same this year I have! I sent in a few applications already, haven't heard anything back. Since I am finishing my senior year of undergrad, I have been putting down not being able to start until late May... So I likely won't get any interviews for a while because of that. I do not have any good advice though. If I were offered a position, I would likely accept it and then if I do get in this cycle I would try to let my employer know as soon as possible that my plans have changed, but thank them for the opportunity.. This is with the thinking that I hadn't actually started yet. It is a weird situation because we don't want to burn bridges, but grad school comes first to me.

I second the perfume comment! I do interviews for my job and we do a week of interviews once a year. This was just last week and I very strongly remember 3 girls because I was almost choking on their perfume. I have a sensitive nose and it made it really hard to pay attention when I was trying to breathe through my mouth so I wouldn't sneeze. While we have a strong policy against bias and can't make judgements based on clothing or things like makeup/perfume, it did turn me off the candidate. I think a subtle amount is fine, but nothing crazy. i am also anxiously awaiting Utah's email. I have this weird dream that since it says "letters" on the website that they are mailing the decisions and we really won't find out today haha, hopefully that's not the case.

I, myself, will likely wear my go to business heels. Black, closed toe, with about an inch or so heel. I am planning on bringing flats to change into if needed. I'm also only 5 feet tall, so adding a little bit of height never hurts me. I want to avoid looking like a child

Oh weird, I had all my material in by January 14th. I had received mail from them about 2-3 weeks ago though. I think dated around the same time.

Just received an email from CSU-Stan that my application was complete and being forwarded to their reviewing committee! So they haven't even start reviewing applications yet, which is kind of reassuring to hear

Just set up a time to go observe a prenatal GC appointment on Wednesday! (Really wish I had gotten this experience earlier so it'd actually show on my application :/) and I am in the process of setting up a meeting with a cancer GC to talk about what she does Still haven't heard anything from any other schools besides Stanford

I just applied to a couple Genetic Counseling Assistant Jobs and will be applying to be an academic advisor or receptionist/office manager of a medical office if I don't get accepted. Any healthcare related job where you'll get direct patient contact, being an academic advisor even, peer counseling work, working with people with disabilities or in other non-profits are all good options. Besides that keep up on working on advocacy experience and finding ways to shadow GCs etc are all great

Hey don't worry! You have two interviews already AND you're waitlisted for another. I read somewhere that said if you get about 3 interviews there's a 50% or a 75% chance (can't remember which one) you'll get in! So you already have a good start! I'm bummed, but I also couldn't justify the expense of going there either. Just not having any interviews (and having only heard from that school) makes me more anxious

My mentor said Middlesex (for a book to read), forgot who wrote it though @GCHopeful Also! One good thing today is that my mentor reached out to the prenatal genetic counselor who works nearby and I am for sure set to go shadow one day! So I just need to call and set that up (I've been busy with my job so I haven't had time yet)

Nope, on their website it said 2-3 weeks after the application closed... which was last Sunday. Hopefully any day now! Thanks guys! It does suck, but it was a reach for me as well. But, at least I heard something

In the results tab it also shows that waitlists for interviews were sent out today by Stanford I didn't have full hope I'd get in, but still... Of course they could still send out more emails but I doubt it

I just applied to 3 jobs (for after graduation if I don't get in lol) in my stress, so at least it was productive? Oh wow! March 18th is super far away but with it being so new it makes sense! Augustana last year sent invites out around that time since they were a new program as well.

At this point I'd take even one no, just to know they even looked at my application. I'm still waiting to hear from all 8 I applied to! However, seeing as Denver has sent interviews out, I am kind of writing them off the list.. But everyone else, I'm still just twiddling my thumbs waiting. It's nerve wracking! At least still being in school forces me to not focus on it as much as I'd like with homework and readings, but still
