If they take around 5-7 students, they normally offer 30-35 interviews. (This is based on Utah's Career Camp)

Yeah some programs call. I've been answering all strange numbers that have called me lately. But it's just telemarkers or Cox trying to get me to spend more money on my internet service.. So annoying

She's great! I also bought my interview outfit yesterday! I got all my things from Banana Republic if you didn't end up going there. I went with a grey blouse that has a blue flower pattern (kind of hard to explain) and three quarter length sleeves. I ended up with just a black suit and pants. Maybe business casual for the dinner? Like a nice pair of dark jeans and a nice shirt?

This! 100% it's a very biker friendly city, if you live near any pubic transportation (buses or the street car) they are very assessable with making sure you can bring your bike along without any hassle. UofA campus has tons of bike paths, which are reserved for bikes only (if pedestrians are walking on the paths, they can be expected to be hit by a biker ?)! (Many building cannot be accessed without biking or walking to them), so that's very convenient for that reason as well. The only weird thing about Tucson is that their left turn traffic lights goes last (but are green/open to turn if no cars are going), which is different than most/all left turn lights throughout the US. But almost all drivers are used to having bicyclists on the road!

Going to meet with my mentor who's a GC and the new program director at Arizona I'm gonna ask about interviews, what to wear, any good resources and things to read up on. Haven't seen her since September so I'm a little nervous. She's a wonderful lady, but she's everything I aspire to be so I always want to be on my best behavior when I see her!

I would also love to not write a thesis too haha! But at the same time I think it would be beneficial for the future And I feel that, 2 of my letter writers submitted their letters in November and 1 didn't finish until January, but I sent them all thank you cards in late December/early January oops. I'm still nervous I sent them to the wrong address (my school's building address are so confusing and some buildngs have PO boxes, so I wasn't 100% on where I should send them), I wanted to ask if they got my letter, but figured that was weird.. I was planning on making a small gift (like a nice coffee mug with either a $5 Starbucks giftcard or a pack of nice tea bags depending on the writer) for when I (hopefully) get accepted with another small letter explaining how they helped me get accepted

Wait it's free? That's crazy... But that's also how I feel. Like I applied to 9 schools (only 8 GC programs), but I can't imagine asking for another letter like "btw sorry guys I can't make up my mind!"

I just found this: http://s3.amazonaws.com/baypath/files/resources/fall-2017-schedule-genetic-counseling-1.pdf and at the top is just says some Saturdays, so it's possible that they aren't every weekend. I signed up for their first Webinar, but accidentally slept through it, so I might try to tune in for this one, but we'll see (as I am not planning on applying to Bay Path).

I received an email about Bay Path hosting another webinar and an open house for their new GC program! They're both being held on the 15th. Here's a link with more details and where to register if anyone is interested: http://www.baypath.edu/academics/graduate-programs/genetic-counseling-ms/

I was so certain I'd get an email from at least one program today and nada ? Congrats to everyone who has though!! It's weird that it seems like east coast/Midwest schools send out their invites before most of the west coast schools. I wonder if there's a reason for that ?

It's only February, spending 6 months at a serving job is still pretty long. I understand not wanting to talk about it since it isn't a sure thing right now. But, I'm sure they understand you wanting to follow your dreams. Just give them a good 6 months and I wouldn't try to feel so bad about it.

Why do you have to lie? Would there be repercussions if they found out? However, some good excuses would be sick days, some weddings, sudden sick relative that you want to spend time with doesn't hurt (kind of harsh, but whatever works?), doctor's appointments?

Haha nope just go into your profile and create a signature! I think it's super nice for everyone to be able to see (at least on a laptop) where people have applied and gotten interviews/rejections without having to go to the results tab every time Plus you can see if you have any competition (or possible future classmates)

No worries! It's under their program/application timeline! A couple schools have vague ones, but I love that Utah's had exact dates. I wish every school would have one, it'd definitely help us all relax some

Oh good! This is good to hear. I thinking we'll be hearing back any day now! Last years results had notices as early as 1/27 but up till 2/5 or so they were still be sent out. I SHOULD be hearing from Stanford and OK hopefully by the 6th, and Utah said on their website letters would be sent out on the 13th. I just have to be patient (which is the last quality anyone would ever attribute to me )

My GC mentor was one of the first classes to graduate from SLC. I was really thinking about applying as well, but the same fears/I really did not like NYC when I visited in high school. I'd probably apply if I don't get in this cycle though.

A lot of schools had sent out interviews by this time last year, so I think schools might just be behind or something? Possibly more applicants? Based on the results tab, Stanford, Oklahoma, and I think Utah had all sent out at least a couple of interviews by now. So, I'm trying not to freak out, but the wait is killing me too

I feel location is a big deal (at least for me), so if you're already having reservation based on that, it might be something that doesn't change in the future. But, in the end it is up to you, so just do what you feel is best for you!

Most schools don't start sending out interviews until mid-February, so you have some time still! Congrats on the interview you have so far! How long do you have to decide? Could you accept and then later decline if you receive interviews from more schools you'd rather go to? It doesn't seem you'd be thrilled to attend, so it might be better just to decline, as you already have 2 offers with 7 more schools still left, so it looks like you still have some decent chances of getting more offers in the future.
