  1. Someone already responded to my post on the results page, but thank you for letting me know. I ended up receiving my rejection from AU SIS yesterday (luckily, I've already been accepted at Indiana and waitlisted at Minnesota). Congratulations on your acceptance!
  2. Anyone who has received an acceptance from American University SIS, do you have any idea if all acceptances have been sent out/will be sent out over the next couple of days?
  3. I sent mine electronically 4-5 days before the deadline. My universities' transcript offices emailed me that they both arrived and were opened a day or two before the deadline.
  4. I am not sure if this is useful information, but the transcript services that my universities send me an email if the electronic transcripts I sent have been opened. I received an email from each service that the transcripts had been received, but nothing from Fulbright. I assume that if anyone else has heard nothing that their transcripts have also been received.
  5. I decided to bite the bullet and called Georgetown (I couldn't find a pertinent email address). They said that decisions usually go out in mid-March, so I guess we won't hear very soon.
  6. Has anyone contacted Georgetown regarding when they will release their decisions?
  7. Thanks for letting me know! I contacted the office earlier, but no one has responded yet. I assume they're receiving tons of emails right now.
  8. This is probably a reach, but did they give you any details about the admissions timeline? I'm still waiting on a decision. I assume at this point that it's going to be a rejection, but I can't figure out why they would wait to send out rejections if they have already emailed those who are accepted or wait-listed and are no longer considering anyone else.
  9. I emailed their general application inquiries team earlier today (before noon CST) and did not receive a response until after 4:30. In case anyone else is waiting on an email response from them, I think that it may just be taking them a while to respond. They're probably being flooded with questions now. But I'm a semi-finalist for Georgia, so I was happy to receive the good news no matter how long it took

Hi, I was recently accepted into UW and selected for a FLAS fellowship for the 2016-2017 academic year. My fellowship provides a $15,000 living stipend for the year. Is it possible to live on roughly $15,000 per year in Seattle? I assume that I should try to find at least one roommate if possible. Are there any roommate matching services for UW students?
  11. I feel a bit like I am beating a dead horse here, but has anyone heard anything about funding yet?
  12. I didn't think I could reject the offer. I'm just trying to figure out how some people on the results forum have received their funding in July. It's apparently considered unethical behavior to accept more than one offer of admission and I haven't seen anything similar to a waitlist. I applied for fellowships at University of Washington (alternate), University of Wisconsin (alternate), and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (selected).
  13. Hi, I applied for three FLAS fellowships for Russian. I was selected for the fellowship at one program and I am an alternate at the other two. I'm not altogether sold on the program that has given me funding and have a few questions about the process. Is everyone who applied generally nominated as an alternate? Do you all know of anyone who has received FLAS funding as an alternate? If so, when did that happen (spring, summer, etc.)? Finally, if I reject my offer of admission at the two schools that nominated me as an alternate, would they still contact me if funding became available (or do I have to accept the offer on April 15th with no knowledge of whether I will have funding)? Any insight would be extremely helpful.
  14. I am studying Russian and East European Studies (I thought the slashes would be an effective way to combine several program titles). I plan to focus on the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. I am most interested in Soviet/Russian foreign policy and the evolution of Russian identity in the post-Soviet period; I'm considering writing my thesis on Putin regime propaganda. I plan to wait until the deadline. I like Georgetown and GW--they're professional programs, so they're most in line with my goals, but they're very expensive. I have funding at Illinois and I know that it is a great program, but I worry that it may be tailored to people want careers in academia. I hope that I have clarified my concerns. I've been having a hard time with phrasing.
  15. I was accepted last month in the MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies program. I have a fellowship there, so that is likely where I will be going next year. Not looking for a roommate (at least not yet), but hoping to meet some new people in this thread and possibly learn a little more about the school.
