  1. Has anyone been in touch with the NYU faculty or staff? I had been waitlisted and was wondering if the timeline for waitlist decisions have been affected at all by recent events.
  2. Might be obvious questions but I'm applying to PhD programs for political science and was wondering if the writings samples should be single or double spaced, or 1.5? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi, The opportunity costs to applying are high, in my opinion, and would really appreciate any input on whether to apply this season. I'm currently a senior from a top20 university in the US, double majoring in political science and economics. I have at 3.8+ GPA for both majors and overall, and am writing honors theses in both departments this year. My GRE scores are V158, Q164, AWA 4.5. I've been involved in public service internships in local and state government, worked as a research assistant on campus on and off since freshman year, and have a relatively strong quantitative background. I wanted to continue my studies in Political Science through a Ph.d program but know this will be a lot of work to apply during the semester. I also don't think I can retake the GREs, as much as I would like to, for this application season. How does everyone see it being worth it to apply to a couple programs I'm interested with such low GRE scores, not such a perfect GPA, and lack of experience (since I am still just a senior in my undergraduate studies). Please let me know what you think!
  4. Thank you all for your responses! Just a bit more on my background. I have taken introduction calculus courses, statistics, and also an econometrics course in the past with a A-/B+ average. I'm still wondering if it's worth taking while studying for the GREs --not sure how much time that will take either.

    GRE Prep

I have yet started studying for the GRE but am planning to start other things this summer (working on a senior thesis, possibly a summer online course) I was wondering how much time people put aside for GRE preparation, so I can plan in advance and maybe drop some things. Some background is I had a 2350 on the SATs and 3.8+GPA as a Polisci and Econ major, but it's been long since I looked at "SAT vocab." Do you think it's reasonable to prep for the GREs by mid August along with a summer course and working on my thesis? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello, I am an undergraduate looking to apply for political science or political economy phd programs this coming fall. I am a political science and economics double major, but have not taken many stat/math classes. There are online calculus classes available this summer, and I was wondering if taking such courses is significantly important in showing your quantitative research abilities and skill assets in the admissions process. As of now, I am working on my senior honors thesis in the econ department and studying for the GREs. As the deadline for enrolling in the online classes is very soon, I'd appreciate any advice!
