  1. I've given it some thought and was thinking of now only applying to: Harvard, JHU, UW, Berkeley. If I go 0/4 admits I would graduate 1 semester later giving me time to have another paper submitted to a journal as well as another summer to do an REU more focused in biostats. This would also give me more time to take more Math classes and biology classes. Is this a bad idea? @Biostat_student_22 I'd really value your thoughts as you are a current student. If you thought pushing graduation one more semester could help your chances of getting into your dream schools would you do it?
  2. This sounds a fun treasure hunt, thank you for your help!
  3. I attended a brief talk by a professor at Penn with brain imaging for multiple sclerosis patients. Professor Shinohara. Check out his work / Penns biostat department
  4. Is the way to go about finding these top advisors to go to the math genealogy project and find out where their students end up? Some schools websites are pretty great at showing where students end up but a lot of schools I can hardly find a webpage on current students let alone recent graduate placement
  5. Does going to Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota corner you out of academia? I'm not familiar with how academic jobs go
  6. As I'm working on applications to graduate school I have been browsing student pages for each university that i'm applying to. The CVs of these students are very intimidating (impressive) and while I understand a bulk of their work and experiences have come in graduate school, I can't help but wonder what their CVs looked like during THEIR application process. Do you have a recommended resource in constructing a CV specifically for statistics? Is anyone comfortable to submit a link to theirs (perhaps with their contact information blurred)? Thanks in advance for any help.
  7. I think he was talking about OP. Just a guess
  8. I am only an applicant but you look like a rock star to me. Is there a way you could take an intro to analysis/ real analysis class? Maybe instead of the time series? From the years of profiles I've gone through if you got that Q GRE to 160+ and do well in an analysis I would say every school on your list is obtainable. Are you going to SACNAS?
  9. What were the courses you took and which did you earn Cs in? I would guess if your research contributions are as impressive as you say then your letters will also be outstanding. I am only a fellow applicant so the only advice I feel I can give you is to hold back on mentioning how much everyone loves you in your personal statement. Your letter writers will attest to that and it'll mean more coming from them. Good luck on your application/admissions!
  10. Thank you for the reply, Cyberwulf! Do you have any recommended safety schools? Based on your advice could I consider the masters programs at some of the top schools (UW, JHU, Harvard) as safeties?
