  1. I would prefer to move to Ottawa too, originally I was going to apply to 8 programs but I knew that some of those schools I wouldnt want to attend so there was no point in applying. For clusters I choose project management and humanitarian aid, development policy, and conflict and resolution. What about you?
  2. Also how many schools/grad programs is everyone applying to? I am applying to five, and I am wondering if I should apply to more (just in case!).
  3. You're actually right! I was thinking of NPSIA, but for UOttawa that is the case, as long as you pay and submit the online application portion, everything else can follow after the deadline.
  4. Don't worry I am in the same position, I plan on mailing mines out on Monday which means it'll arrive on Tuesday. As long as it arrives before the deadline, you're fine. They know that it takes awhile to go through all the mail and update our files, so they take that into consideration (plus your mail will indicate the day it was mailed out). Plus I was told that grad committees take this into consideration and won't actually start looking at applications until mid February.
  5. I submitted the day of! My topic was on the refugee crisis in the Middle East and how it has hindered the development of Lebanon (among other states). What about you? I am also applying for NPSIA, I am going for the thesis option. Who else plans on taking the thesis route?
  6. I am applying to GPSIA and the School of Global and International Development (which is at Ottawa). The UOttawa process is extremely frustrating! Their online application doesn't allow you to check the status of your transcript or even anything else plus they are the only school that requires you to actually mail your supporting documents! I called them two days ago and they received my transcript but it took like 2 weeks for that to happen. I have yet to mail in my GPSIA though
  7. I think we are all in the same position, every time I think I am ready to submit my statement I hold it off and try to edit it again. Needless to say, I think I am making it worse rather than better. The rejection scenarios are pretty overwhelming, stay positive guys! What's the worse that can happen, a no? (Look at me giving this pep talk that I am not even willing to imagine). Countdown till March! Hopefully, some of us at least get into 1 of our top schools. Best of luck!
  8. I promise the last post for the day: Is anyone here applying to MUNK? I have a few questions regarding the admission statement and the first question which asks us to identify a global affairs question, topic, or problem that interests us, and reflects on how it is being addressed, and/or which provides an innovative approach to addressing it. Are we expected or allowed to cite academic sources here?
  9. The thing is those six pages are just the last four years of experience, but you're right I need to take some stuff out. I have been involved with Model United Nations for three years now, and that alone takes up 1/3 of my resume. Do you know what the standard number of pages is?
  10. Hey guys! I have finalized my resume and sorta my first draft for the personal statement and I have a few questions that I am hoping someone can answer. My resume is about 6 pages with a section for academic experience, field placements, and extracurricular involvement. I am not sure if this is too long and if I am supposed to include a section on education. Does anyone know what the standard is? Also, it is usually standard not to repeat what's on the resume in your personal statement, do you guys think this matters?
  11. I'm feeling the same way! I think I've spent way too much time working on my resume... I have to sit down and actually write my statement And I agree with Hopeful2017! It always helps to study in a different environment.
  12. Yours is a great average too! We still have time until the NPSIA deadline, I believe it's January 31st. I am going for project management and humanitarian aid, development policy, and conflict resolution. I also heard they admit students based on their field option and we might not always get our top because we have a choice of three. Best of luck on your applications! You seem to be ahead since you've already submitted everything.
  13. Hey guys! I am so glad I found this forum, as I have been keeping up with past forums regarding this topic. So let's just say you all gave me a heart attack - I am also applying to NPSIA, GSPIA, MUNK, Waterloo (Masters in Development Practice), and SIDGS (also ottawa). I have applied for SHHRC and OGS in most of these schools, which by the way is a very time consuming process but hopefully it will pay off! I've submitted the online portion of my applications but I haven't started my letter of intent yet because school and work have really been stressful, however I'm not too worried but based on what i have read on here, most of you guys have already submitted your application! Do you guys know what the committees looks for during the selection process? Specifically for NPSIA, MUNK, and GSPIA? I look forward to your responses!
