  1. I just accepted NYU's admissions offer! I'm so excited. Hope to see some of you there in the fall. I got into the 2 year program with a 7k scholarship.
  2. I actually got an email back a few days after I made that post, and they manually checked it after that. Thanks!
  3. I don't have an answer for you, but I want you to know that I am also super nervous. Please don't be embarrassed! Good for you for going back to school, you're bettering your life for you and your kiddo!
  4. I just got my acceptance letter this evening! I was also freaking out and saw on their website that they were sending out letters by April 1, so I thought I'd have to wait that long! Hope you hear back soon if you haven't already.
  5. No! I'm dyin' over here! I think I will have to ask Fordham for an extension on the decision deadline so I can wait to see if Hunter wants me to interview. I just wanna know!!
  6. Sure. I applied to the 2 year program for MSW. My undergrad GPA was 3.0, so I think every other part of my application is what got me in because that definitely isn't a great GPA. I worked as a support worker doing behavioral therapy with children with Autism for about a year and a half, volunteer sometimes in a homeless shelter (just doing food prep), and currently work for the Boys and Girls Club. My recommendations were all lead therapists (one with MSW, two with masters in special education) on different cases I worked on when I did behavioral therapy support.
  7. Got my acceptance the other day! Has anyone decided to go here? I've been accepted to Fordham, USC, and Columbia. USC is out at this point because I'd prefer not to do online. I am excited about getting into Columbia, but it is so expensive. I know Fordham University is certainly less known than Columbia, but is still a great school and cheaper. What are you guys thinking? Is Fordham anyone's top choice?
  8. I finished my application on February 1, and received an acceptance letter today! I am so excited, but the cost of the school is making me have doubts. Waiting on scholarship information.
  9. I got my acceptance letter today! This is for the online program. I'm happy because they are my first acceptance letter, but man they are sooo expensive. Good luck, everyone!!
  10. Did you guys have issues uploading your transcripts? It says they are uploaded, but then when I look at my application after submitting it, it says they are not received. I emailed them, but haven't heard back yet. I got it all in by the 5th, but now I'm not sure if it all went through.
  11. Thanks for the insight. They are my top choice, but ultimately I applied to 5 schools. I really just hope I get into any of them haaha.
  12. I completed my application for the online program on the 26th. I'm nervous! I am not sure about them 100% because they are so expensive, but their quick timeline and early start for May is super appealing. Good luck everyone! As for the interview, I think I spoke to an admissions person very briefly about stuff, but it wasn't anything super detailed. Kind of like - what made you interested, do you think you can do online school, why now - that type of stuff. Easy peasy! No pressure.
  13. I just finished my application! Good luck.
  14. I got scared that I wont be accepted anywhere and decided to add more schools to my list. I am applying to NYU, Columbia, Hunter College, Fordham, and USC's online program. Hopefully *someone* lets me in?
  15. I got a job as therapeutic staff support with a biology degree and some experience with kids. This is actually what made me realize I'd like to be a LCSW. If you look for jobs around your area called therapeutic staff, behavioral technician, ABA therapist/support you might find something. You work in the home, community, or school setting and support their teachers and caregivers, using applied behavioral analysis and other therapies. There is a lot of travel, it doesn't pay super well, and sometimes the kids can be aggressive, but I absolutely loved it. Not only do you get experience doing behavioral therapy, you're likely to have a lead therapist on each case that has a MSW. This is where I got all of my letters of recommendation. If you have any questions, let me know!
