  1. One of my programs requires us to do a video interview and it's through the platform Kira Talent. Has anyone used this before for an interview for a job or another graduate program? The school did a good job of explaining how the interview will be styled but I am still a little confused about it and my research isn't going too well. Is it an actual person interviewing you (i.e., live interview)? Or are the questions pre-recorded/shown on the screen and you basically talk to your camera as if it was a person in front of you? I have a feeling it is the latter but I wanted to ask in case I could get any clarifications and if anyone has any tips if they've done this before!
  2. From what I've heard it's super important since it's such an up and coming area in our field! I wish I mentioned it my first few essays but I'm definitely making sure to mention it more in my remaining apps
  3. I think if you have all your transcripts in and verified it won't take long at all. One of my apps was verified within a few hours of submitting it.
  4. So for some schools I'm missing maybe 1-2 pre-reqs with one course popping up more than once, so I plan on taking that course this summer depending on where/if I am accepted. My question is- is it possible to enter this course as a planned course if I do not know what school I plan to take it at? I am guessing no since you have to add a college before you can add any courses but I want to double check! Also, for one school I'm missing about 4 pre-reqs :/ (2 are disorders classes and my undergrad did not offer these courses for us), do you think this will hinder my chances at all? And if anyone has any great recommendations for an online Clinical Methods, Introduction to SLP, Language & Phonological Disorders (pediatric communication disorders), and Organic Disorders (adult acquired disorders) courses please let me know!
  5. Hi so I have somewhat of a silly question. I decided to quote one of my favorite books in my essay and I'm curious if I should cite it at the end of my essay. I properly cited it in the body of my text but do you think I should add a formal citation at the end of my personal statement? I know that's the right thing to do academically but I don't want to have a random extra page with just one citation on it. Please help!
  6. a lot of my school have mentioned double-spaced with 12 pt font and 1in margins
  7. About the interview? Not yet. From my research it doesn't seem like they will ask course-related questions (anatomy, diagnoses, etc.). I could see that being a little unfair to out of major students. I think they may be more along the ethics line
  8. thank you! I sent something similar after doing some research online. I figured she didn't forget but that scenario just kept running through my head lol. She replied right away!
  9. Anyone have any tips on how to send a reminder email to a professor about a LOR? or has sent one? I sent her my materials and an email around the end of October and she's the only one I'm waiting on. I told her the "due date" was December 15 but expected her to have it done around Thansgiving. I don't want to sound rude in my email but I'm getting concerned she might've forgotten... Any tips or a template would be super helpful! I'm terrible when it comes to asking/reminding people on stuff like this
  10. I would look through ASHA edfind. It will tell you if it only needs CSDCAS or if it's CSDCAS + a supplemental app
  11. Following because I also have an interview on Tuesday! Does anyone know how the written portion is? We don't need to know specifics from coursework, right? I've been out of school for a year so I'll be screwed if they ask anything specific related
  12. thank you! this is exactly what I was looking for!
  13. I'm looking for an article about the current trends in speech pathology or in ASHA? I know technology integration is a big one but I wanted to find some more topics to prep for an interview as well as be more informed! If anyone knows of an article/report that exists please let me know! I've searched ASHA's website but I can't seem to find anything that is recent.
  14. I'm doing the same! Or i'm talking about their clinic and what they do there that interests me. I attended UIUC for my undergraduate degree and if you go to the faculty page and click on the associate professors there it will take you to their "website" and most talk about the research they are doing!
  15. One of my top schools is actually an accreditation candidate. When I visited there they said that being a candidate isn't a huge deal as everyone makes it out to be. Basically it means that they are a newer program (at least mine is) and they have to have a certain number of years where they show job employment, praxis scores, etc. They said it doesn't effect what they teach and you will get your license no matter what. That's what I got out of it, hopefully that helps!
  16. This might be a silly question to ask but you don't need to have all your apps done on csdcas for the verification process to begin correct? So once I submit an app and pay the fee then that app will be in line for verification, correct?
  17. Just so I'm clear on this as well, does the verification include the documents needed to be uploaded? (i.e., essays for schools). I sent my transcripts to csdcas about a month ago so I'm hoping they should be verified by now. After seeing 2 posts about this question I'm worried I should work a little faster on these essays, my goal was to have everything done by December 1 but now I'm wondering if I need to move that up or not.
  18. To me it sounds like she might me saying something that isn't true...maybe she's thinking of your educational license? I'm a parapro and my license expires in 5 years so maybe that's what she is thinking of. Your degree definitely won't be revoked!
  19. I dealt with this issue before so I understand your frustration and anxiety! After me sending 3 emails with no response I finally decided to just call the office and leave a voicemail or see if you can speak with them over the phone. If you're brave enough perhaps just show up to her office hours and talk to her in person!
  20. What did they mean by "revoked"? I don't understand how that would be possible because most universities only revoke your degree if they found out you were involved in some sort of plagiarism or violated the student code of conduct.
  21. Thanks for the replies! I didn't think they would sway from the curriculum at all either since this one school in particular is ASHA accredited. The question just came to mind because in their personal statement prompt they ask a question that describes them as a "faith-based institution" and how their program fits into my personal objectives. So I was just curious if there was any difference at all!
  22. Has anyone on this forum been accepted to or is currently attending a program at a faith-based school? I'm just curious because I'm not a very religious person but I am applying to a few programs that are at a school that is faith-based. Does the faith-based institution have any effect on the CSD material that you are taught? I feel like it doesn't but I just want to make sure and am curious about what these programs are like or if there is any difference at all. Thank you in advance to anyone who responds!
  23. How are you liking Governor's State?! It's one of my top schools because it's close to home but I'm curious how the program is
