This is really weird but my GSPIA application, which is still 'under evaluation' added two documents to my requirements page that are unchecked. They are 'official final transcript' and 'official proof of diploma'.... Does anyone else see that?
-
Thanks for the insight. I'm happy to hear this, but making a decision will be so hard if I get into either of the other programs.
-
I just got accepted into Carleton's M.A Political Science program!!!!! With a great scholarship package that will leave me debt-free and a T.A ship!!!!! This is gonna make my decision so much harder if I get into NPSIA or GSPIA.... Would I be a fool to reject (if I get in) those offers for a less prestigious program if the funding is small or if I don't get any funding whatsoever?
-
I think you'd end up with awkward sentences and language that doesn't mean the same thing in English vs. French lol. Best shot would be to ask a French speaking friend/family member to help. A challenge but manageable.
-
The GSPIA language situation is far more daunting.... But my thought is I can save it for my second year, and work as hard as possible to prepare myself from now until then. Taking a GRADUATE COURSE in a language one isn't fluent in... I think it will be a challenge but one I am up to.
-
Primarily because its better suited for my research interests, prefer the faculty, smaller class sizes, usually more funding/co-op.. NPSIA is great too but that's the short version for why.
-
So I got an email from GSPIA today after asking them if their last email: "can expect an answer sometime in March or early April." (Cont) was about offers generally speaking or my specific case, and they said it was in regards to acceptances/rejections broadly. That's a relief, and I hope to hear from them sooner rather than later. GSPIA is really my number one school and the wait is excruciating.

Hey guys, I was just wondering where everyone stands on the prestige vs. funding debate. Would you attend a school/program with less prestige if the funding was better or vice versa?
-
i got a response back to an email I sent to NPSIA about acceptances, and this what Tabatha said: "We are hoping to have info out in the next two weeks or so." That falls in line with acceptances given last year, around mid March. It appears that despite increases in applications, they are on track.
-
OGS funding and acceptances don't necessarily go hand in hand but still, congrats to all!
-
Thank you for that!! It does help. If that is the case, it may actually be late March/early April for second round offers.
-
And who knows how long that may take, as they will wait to hear back from first round offers.... :/.

I spoke to the Graduate Administrator at the Political Science department at Carleton, and was told that my M.A Poli Sci application is in the top 20 ranking and that I am most likely receiving an acceptance by the 15th with funding. This was my backup program (behind both NPSIA and GSPIA) but that was nice to hear.
-
I really hope I haven't been cast aside as a second round type of application. The email I got was so vague and could mean anytime in the next month.
-
Just got an email back from GSPIA about when to expect offers, and this is what I got back.... "Thank you for your e-mail. You can expect an answer sometime in March or early April." The wait may be longer than we expect.
-
Good luck y'all!!! Please do continue to post updates including rejections (I'm sure people may lose interest in checking in once they get good/bad news) but please do!!

The week has come to an end..... One of my Carleton applications is still on 'Review in Progress by Department' stage (M.A Poli Sci) and the other is on 'Recommended to Assessment' (NPSIA).. I'm thinking it could be a bit longer this year if the no. of applications has increased. Perhaps we will find out in a week or two.
-
Tell me about it, my birthday is on the 5th and I'm hoping I'll be in a celebratory mood..

This page explains each of the steps: https://graduate.carleton.ca/apply-online/application-status/ 'Recommended for Assessment' means "your application has been submitted to the admission committee of the academic unit to which you have applied."
