  1. Unless things are running late compared to last year, it seems like we could get word sometime next week (27th- 3rd). Although I haven't checked threads beyond last year, so I'm not sure if that was an exception or not.
  2. I'm honestly so eager to hear back from GSPIA at the moment. Looking back at last year's thread, it appears that acceptances were sent out (one on the 11th) and most around last week of Feb and first week of March. This means it is right around the corner, with NPSIA a while after. One commenter on last year's thread said he/she got the documents confirmed and within 9-10 days, got an acceptance! So it appears, there isn't a huge gap between the "under evaluation" stage and decisions made.
  3. I follow a couple of the profs as well and they seem very interesting! The more I look into it, the more I'm leaning to GSPIA. Hoping they let us know in the coming weeks.
  4. Given the fact that classes aren't taking place and the campus will be far more quiet, I expect them to get even more done...
  5. My NPSIA application is still stuck at 'Preliminary Review Required" smh. Hope to see some movement soon. In other news, UOttawa has sent me multiple emails over the last couple of days saying my application has been updated but its still "under evaluation".
  6. My final documents for NPSIA were submitted on the 30th of Jan (it was a LoR) and its also at the 'Preliminary Review Required' stage.
  7. I expect our apps to make some progress next week because it is reading week at UOttawa and Carleton, which means faculty could organize meetings and look over them.... I think we should see some movement.
  8. So I just got an email that my GSPIA documents were all received and it's 'complete' now. It also says it's under evaluation.
  9. My GSPIA application is still "incomplete" as of right now. I don't know how fast they move from "complete" to "decision made" though, so who knows when it will be. :/ My Carleton applications are also at the 'preliminary review required" stage.
  10. Exactly!! A great school in all other respects but it has such archaic methods in this day and age. My thoughts, despite my frustrations were, university administration is something we seldom deal with and something I could overlook. Incredibly annoying though.
  11. The University of Ottawa is beyond frustrating. Their administration is so inept and inefficient. My thought has been, why wouldn't they (the Graduate Studies office) send off documents to their respective departments immediately rather than comb through every single document for EVERY program in the FSS (Faculty of Social Sciences) and according to conversations I've had with their office, calculate our GPA's before sending it to the department/school one is applying to. It creates a huge backlog and not to mention, a confusing online situation and a lack of email responses leaves applicants in the dark...
  12. Two questions that I have are: 1) From my knowledge, it is actually the opposite, and this excludes NPSIA's typically smaller funding packages.... UOttawa Tuition Last Year for all Social Sciences MA Programs: $6,330- I added both the fall and winter totals from here, using the filters : http://www.uottawa.ca/university-fees/tuition-fees Carleton's Tuition Last Year (Specifies their MA Intl. Affairs Program or NPSIA): $8,565: http://carleton.ca/studentaccounts/tuition-fees/fw-gr/fallwinter-2016-17-domestic-graduate-tuition-fees/ 2) I'm confused as to how you'd come to the conclusion that GSPIA or UOttawa is more 'leftist'? If so, what is that supposed to mean? Personally speaking, I don't find NPSIA's economics-driven, westocentric, predominantly white, neo-liberal faculty to be somehow more comforting. GSPIA doesn't come across as overtly leftist but it does pay more attention to having a more diverse faculty and course offerings, something that students potentially preparing for careers in public policy ought to have, in my humble opinion.
