I finally got an acceptance! Woooo!!! Still waiting on WWU (top choice), but I'll be more than happy to continue at WSU if it's not good news from Western.

I took 13 credits my first semester.  Other than research methods, most follow this schedule for their first semester.  Each credit corresponds roughly to 1-1.5 hours:

    Voice (2 cr)
    Adult Neurogenic DIsorders (3 cr)
    Clinical Processes (1 cr)
Research Methods (3 cr) [Some students choose to take this over the summer.  I wrote a thesis and opted to take it my 1st semester for that reason.]
School Age Language (2 cr) [some of my classmates took a class in Birth-3 instead.]
    On-Campus Clinic (2 cr)

You can expect 2-3 hours per week of therapy time (actual time with the client).  The rest of the time is spent reviewing videos, reviewing past reports, therapy planning, analyzing data, writing reports, working on assignments, doing observations, etc.  Your actual timeslots for clinic varies based on your supervisor's schedule, your schedule, your client's schedule, availability of therapy rooms, etc.  I had some clients that had sessions at 8:00 am.  I also had clients that couldn't make it until 3 pm.

Some of my classmates also took classes for DPI certification in conjunction with these courses.  Others also had courses that weren't offered in their undergrad that they needed to patch into their graduate coursework.

In the 2nd year, some students also choose an independent study or an extra clinical experience in an area of interest that they couldn't fit in earlier.  The department does their best to try and customize your schedule to your interests and future career goals as much as possible.

I spend a LOT of time on campus. Even on days when I don't have a lot of classes, I typically have clinic, paperwork, studying, clinic prep, research, homework (and now TA work) to do. Some of that can be done at home, but I've found it easier to do the majority of it on campus. I just think of this as my job, and I'm on the clock from (roughly) 8 to 5.  As soon as I get home, I typically just want to crash, and do normal non-grad school things.  Easier said than done, but that's what I've been striving for, lately.
My first quarter was a bit less hectic. I still spent the majority of the day on campus, though, and had a fairly heavy course load (17 credits). I'm sure it varies a bit by school, but the CSD building has definitely become my second home!

I have been accepted to one school so far, and about two weeks after acceptance, I received a letter from the school detailing all tuition and fees for the entire two year program (including summer). This is before living expenses were factored in, but it was still... a HUGE number to look at, lol.

Agreed!! Why does it need to be that confusing? I wish it was just like "here is your tuition as an SLP doing a masters"

YES!  I cannot begin to fathom what's about to happen if I go to school in Virginia.  I need to win the lottery ASAP.  (too bad I don't play the lottery).

Anyone else frustrated with how non-transparent some of these schools are with their tuition costs?  Most of the schools I've applied to leave it to you to figure out the tuition, providing charts with fees per credits, additional student fees, etc....  Why can't they just tell us how much it will cost?  I spent an hour last week making calculations for my schools and crying (well not actually crying but you know).

Hey! I got accepted here too! Does that mean we would start THIS summer, or would the extra summer be summer 2019?

Calculating costs is almost as equal a nightmare as it was choosing schools to apply to. I'm factoring in tuition (I wish programs just gave you a breakdown up front instead of trying to figure out summer costs, etc.), average rent, etc.

I'm on the Tier One waitlist at Pacific.
It's my top choice but I have no idea how many people are on the Tier One with me but I just saw last night on the Results page that someone is not taking their spot at Pacific because they got in somewhere they like better.
I can't even explain the feelings I'm going through right now!

Hi - I don't have much information on this topic, but I'll offer up some (probably vague) idea of what I do know.
Obviously it depends on each university, but most universities have a deadline of April 15th for people who were already offered admission to accept. This means that probably a lot of people (unfortunately) are waiting to make their decision - totally understandable because everyone should make the right decision, but also sucks for waiting list.
I think some schools do "rolling" admissions from the waitlist as people decline the offer, but I'm not sure who all that includes. It's probably "safe" to say that many won't start offering spots to the waiting list until after April 15th.
Hope that helped a little, and feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong

Just from my experience and the school I went to, It seems most schools are busy with their current students and teaching classes, etc.  Most schools go over applications during their spring break which is why notices vary by school.  Spring break is the only time they have free to take the needed time to look over applicants, etc.  And just think, if your teaching, grading papers, answering students emails, etc. throughout the school year and have a week off for spring break.....  would you wanna take a day or 2 of that break to look over applicant files, etc?  Well they do!  These professors are very busy.  And after they decide on who to send offers to and waitlist offer to, they have to send that information to the department secretary who does all the mailing and emailing most of the time.  Its definitely a crazy process.  And I agree, having gone through it in the past, its just anxiety setting in.  I wanted to know and I wanted to know now!  Thats the society we live in today, information at our finger tips but when it comes to grad school responses it doesn't work that way.
Hope you all are keeping busy, but I know its more like checking emails, grad cafe and the mailbox as often as possible!
