  1. Maybe not. Because I emailed my POI today asking if TC interview invites were sent out and he said yes... oh well.
  2. I second this, please! Was it a mass email or more like an email from a specific PI? Thank you!
  3. Here's how I used it. Hope this helps! Dear Dr. ______, I hope the new year is treating you well! In applying for the ________'s Clinical Psychology PhD program this fall 2021, I listed you as a strong mentor fit. I understand the interview selection is considerably underway, and certain faculty already finalized their candidate list. However, because others have not yet extended all invitations, I heard from the department that applications are still being reviewed. With this is mind I am wondering - have all interviews been extended from your side? I would really appreciate your update. I look forward to hearing back. Have a great day!
  4. Hi there! So I got a little impatient and emailed the PI I applied to at George Mason using one of the email templates posted here (thanks for that!). This is what they said: "While we have extended invitations for interviews, we have not made all of our final decisions as of yet. You will receive definitive word within the next few weeks. I am sorry not to be able to end the waiting sooner – I know it is a grueling process. We will get back to you as soon as we can." Does this mean that I'm waitlisted even though all the interviews have gone out? Also, I hope this helps as an update to anyone who applied to George Mason.
  5. Same, haven't heard back from them yet... here's hoping for the best!
  6. Hey there! I see that you've also applied to George Mason, have you heard back from them yet? And I feel you about program fit, although I'm not researching self-harm, I'd have a tough time finding programs researching resilience.
  7. Oh hot damn... well, now we can just hope for the other applications...
  8. I don't think so, I did the same today for Fordham. At worst, you won't hear back from them but at least you won't regret not trying.
  9. Thank you, I checked and it seems so. I don't know whether they mass emailed or are still extending invites though...
  10. Has anyone heard from George Mason University (GMU) yet?
  11. Does anyone know if Teachers College Columbia University has emailed out interview invites for their Clinical Psychology PhD program? Thank you!
  12. Hi! What if I'm also the first author (with other authors as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively) on the manuscript currently under review? Can I still submit that as a writing sample or would that be ethically wrong?
  13. Hi! What if I'm also the first author (with other authors as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively) on the manuscript currently under review? Can I still submit that as a writing sample or would that be ethically wrong?
  14. Hello! I have a weird question... So some applications ask for a writing sample. Is it okay/appropriate for me to submit a paper that is currently under review at a journal as a writing sample? Or is that ethically wrong and might look bad on my part? I'm just concerned because I'm the first author on the paper so while it shows me in a good light, I wonder if I'm allowed to submit it though? Any advice soon would be really appreciated. Thank you!
  15. So does that mean all the universities that required the subject test now won't require them? It won't affect our applications?
  16. Sorry for the delayed response, but thank you so much everyone. The ideas here really help me a lot, seriously. Thank you!!! I'm looking forward to this internal fun work haha
  17. Hey y'all! I'm currently applying to Clinical Psychology PhD programs for Fall 2021 admissions. This will be my first time every going through the application cycle, so yes, I'm very excited and very nervous Here's my conundrum though, I'm still not sure about my research interests. I just graduated from with my MA in Psychology this Spring, so I have had 2 years of 'official' psychology experience, if you may, and while I thoroughly enjoyed every core class I took (biopsych, ethics, cognitive, stats, etc), I'm still not sure about what exactly I want to research for the next 5 years... Almost every topic seems so exciting to pursue! And it's like this buffet where I want to eat everything (I mean, try every kind of sub topic haha). So, my main question is, how did you discover or get to know what exactly you want research? How did you know that a specific sub-field was 'the one' for you? Any advice or perspective will be really appreciated! Thanks y'all!
  18. I never thought about their email response potentially highlighting their mentorship/communication style too. That is actually very enlightening and I'll keep an eye out for the response type. Also, if you see below, @justacigar provided amazing email templates to use for emailing PI's. Hope this helps!!
