  1. Figured I’d start a thread for those who applied to the NSF INTERN Supplemental Funding Opportunity. I applied and was told by my officer I had received funding. However, I haven’t received the official notification letter. Have those of you who applied received any official news?
  2. I was not awarded Fulbright-Hays. I also had 0/15 points in the language section, “The applicant is a native speaker of Spanish and therefore does not qualify for points in this category." I’ll be reaching out to Fulbright since I am a heritage Spanish speaker, but I don’t know that anything will be done. (sigh) Congratulations to all those awarded! I’m sure you will have a wonderful time conducting your amazing work.
  3. I’m so sorry that you are also still waiting for results, but I hope you hear good news soon.
  4. Thank you for your kindness! Crossing my fingers but not holding my breathe on this one.
  5. Well that is devastating’ I hadn’t see the post , but my friend shared the press release with me because she knew I was applying to Fulbright-Hays and I’m a heritage speaker.
  6. I haven’t gotten my results back yet. Under the agreement for this year I shouldn’t get all points deducted, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I haven’t received results yet. However, I’m a heritage speaker and I wasn’t aware. Neither were my university Fulbright-Hays coordinator or my advisor who was a previous Fulbright recipient.
  7. Well I reached out to my university and Fulbright, but I doubt I’ll get a response over the weekend. ?
  8. For anyone who is a heritage speaker and got points deducted for that see this press release by the New Civil Liberties Alliance.
  9. Welp… the Fulbright coordinator at my university is out of the office ? so I guess I won’t know my status until Monday at the earliest. congratulation to all those awarded.
  10. The Fulbright coordinator at my university lags in sending out information to us. Last year she didn’t notify me that I had been awarded a different award until after my proposed start date and only because I emailed her to about reapplying. I think I’ll be more likely to find out results are out because of someone posting here. So, if you get news please post.
  11. I haven’t heard anything… I was really hoping to hear back today since last year folks heard on September 10th
  12. I believe that we were asked to submit the continued interest form last week. We had to submit the completed form by August 10th.
  13. I had my Fulbright research interview today below is a list of questions I was asked How will you be recruiting participants given the sensitive topic of your research? How will you protect respondents? Elaborate on the theoretical framework of your study. What specific resources do you have available to help you with the project? How will you utilize these resources? Who are the people that will be supporting your research in your designated country and how will they be helping your research? Is your project feasible given the Fulbright time limits? Explain. Why are you choosing to conduct this project in this particular country? What benefits does your project have? What is the ultimate outcome? My biggest piece of advice is to know your project well and to be able to elaborate on different aspects of your project.
  14. Interview date has been confirmed in late February. I applied for research in Mexico. The wait is going to make me so anxious,
  15. Application for research in Mexico submitted. Now the waiting begins
  16. Second year graduate student, awarded. VG/E, VG, E, G, VG I am completely shocked that I got the award after reading the comments from the third reviewer. First two reviewers we're generally positive with good points of concern or areas of improvement.
  17. I can't believe it, I won! I feel so lucky because I know a lot of people were equally or more deserving of the award.
  18. Thank you so much. I think you are right, this is an opportunity to just start fresh in this new point in my life. I'll continue to try to have this perspective.
  19. Thank you @Levon3 but it still hasn't hit me. It still doesn't feel real.
  20. Well it is official, my 5+ year relationship is over. I think I'm numb because I don't even feel sad, yet. Maybe I need more time for it to actually sink in. I just wish it wasn't happening right before I'm set to leave for a research trip abroad and as I try to get ready to start grad school this fall.
  21. Statement of Intent and housing application turned in. Now I'm just getting ready for my summer research internship abroad. Everything seems to have fallen into place and I am extremely grateful and fortunate to have been surrounded by such a wonderful support system during this very stressful time. I will never be able to adequately express my appreciation to all those people who have helped me during this daunting process.

  22. I would love to do the Fulbright research program one day. However, I will be starting my Ph.D. program this fall and after talking to the department they suggested the best time for me to participate would be after my 3rd year once core classes and comprehensive exams are out of the way. In the meantime I'll live vicariously through all of you going through the application process. Best of luck to all of you this upcoming application cycle.
