  1. I'm sorry... but I'm sure your partner appreciates you being emotionally supportive if nothing else.
  2. Best wishes that good news arrives quickly, @metalpsychperson and @AbbyB13. The continued wait can definitely feel unbearable.
  3. Ahhhh!!! I just found out I've been selected to go study mental health stigma in Mexico over the summer!!!! I am ecstatic and grateful for this opportunity.

  4. It's such a relief to have finally made my choice and to know where I'll be living for the next few years. Happy to say I'll be attending UC, Irvine and to be part of the Criminology, Law & Society PhD program.

Wishing all the best for all those still trying to make their decision and waiting for answers.

  5. Now that I've received my revised funding offer from UCI, I'm ready to submit my SIR. It's a relief to finally be done with this part of the process. Best of luck to all those still waiting and in the decision process.
  6. I'm so sorry about this application cycle. I totally agree with the advice outlined by @dormcat and @01848p. Additionally, I suggest looking for funded best-bacc programs. I found 2 programs that offer funding, I'll PM you the information when I find it.
  7. Thank you so very much, @stereopticons We've been long distance for almost 2 years now. I was looking forward to finally being in the same city. He didn't mention re-enlisting when discussing programs and places to apply for graduate school. When he mentioned it I was surprised and also upset, at him for waiting to tell me and at myself for limiting the places I applied. I think we both needed to be more honest and open about what we want.
  8. Thank you, I have grown to love my ultimate choice very much. I'm quite happy and feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.
  9. I was just notified I have been denied/rejected off of the waitlist from my top choice. I'm sad but also relieved. I can now accept my other offer which I have grown to love as time goes by. Best of luck to all of those still waitlisted, may you have good news soon.
  10. I originally emailed Leslie Noel who explained that Dr. John Hipp was the person to contact for funding inquiries. I followed up with Dr. Hipp via email and I received the revised funding information within a matter of days. Best of luck.
  11. I spoke to them about my funding package and had a positive outcome. If you have any concerns I highly encourage you to let them know.
  12. Wow, that is so strange. I'm sorry things turned out that way... it seems like you were pretty much in.
  13. Thanks so much for the information. I was waitlisted at my first choice and I wasn't sure whether I should update the program on my acceptances to other programs. I was just going to wait as long as I could before committing in hopes of being accepted off waitlist.
  14. I could kick myself right now. When I started looking at programs to apply to I consulted my SO, since he had agreed to move with me. Now he tells me he doesn't know if he wants to move and says he's considering re-enlisting in the military. I'm so upset at the moment
  15. For those attending UCI, is the stipend (~$24,000/year) enough to get by if you're living in campus housing?
  16. I'm sorry that was your experience (and twice). The interactions I've had with my POI from UCSC has been extremely positive. Unfortunately, my POI was unable to take on a student this year. However, I found that she was very supportive and encouraging.
  17. My bad visit was pretty much due to my clumsiness. When I arrived at the campus it was raining pretty hard and there were puddles everywhere. While walking to the building where interviews were held I ended up slipping and my cell phone fell into a puddle cracking the screen. I was completely drenched, but the most embarrassing part was that my shoes were soaked and every time I walked you heard squishy sounds.
  18. When I was a child (7 or 8) I was playing while my mother was ironing. I accidentally knocked over the iron and tried to catch it before it hit the ground. I ended up with a partial iron burn imprint on my left forearm.
  19. Just sent thank you emails to the professors from my community college. Honestly, when I returned to school at almost 30 I wasn't thinking of even transferring to a four year institution. Thanks to their support and encouragementI transferred to a great undergraduate university. And next year I'll be attending graduate school. :D I have been truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazingly supportive people.

  20. Maybe you can reach out to one of the grad students we met during the recruitment weekend. I've found them to be extremely helpful.
  21. I've had no news to report... just waiting to hopefully be accepted from waitlist.
  22. @wknd_worrier @waitnhope I only received the programs funding letter this morning.
  23. My POI at the other university has just been really attentive and continued to be in touch and advising me about additional resources. I mean UCI has been great as well I've received a lot of emails from faculty too.
  24. Congratulations to all those fortunate enough to have secured admission offers. Best wishes for all of those still waiting to hear back from programs. For those of you that already have offers, what are some of the biggest deciding factors as you all weigh your offers? How are you making your decisions?
  25. Best wishes and positiveness to all who are waitlisted. May good news reach us soon.
