Thanks! Which interview date are you going for? And do you know anything about the stats of how many acceptances they give out vs. how many interviews?
I haven't been able to find out much abut this program (probably since it's pretty small), but I'm really excited about it! Good luck to both of us!

At least UCSF/Berkeley is up front about the rejections. Drives me nuts when programs just send out interviews and then wait to deal with rejects.

I think the odds are fairly promising at MIT, unless you clearly don't know what you're talking about or are rude. From what I've read on these forums, Stanford seems to be slightly more stringent after interviews (or maybe just less stringent before them?), but I'd expect the odds are still above 60–70%. I'll still be preparing well, but I don't think it should be worth stressing about. See you there!

Hey guys, i've noticed that interviews are coming out now. I've started another thread for people to post interview dates, so that we can stay up-to-date from each other and possibly avoid time conflicts among all the interview weekends! Best of luck everyone!

I love this attitude. I agree completely. Set a high bar for yourself, be specific in your interests, and pursue the things you're passionate about. I feel like a lot of people who take a shot at a PhD are generally doing it for the love of it, in some way or another. Plenty do it just because they're smart and it just seems like a logical step, too...
I admit that I'm aiming for the degree because of the benefits it'll give me in my research career, but only made the decision to shoot for it after working in the industry for a few years, and determined that I needed it to do the things I'm passionate about. Getting to do research that I think is awesome and neat on the way? That's a bonus.

If you google "NIH grad school interview preparation", there is a presentation from the NIH OITE that is meant to help you prepare for interviews. It seems pretty helpful, I'd check it out!

Same as title... Got an interview at a school where I have worked with a professor already, should I request an interview with them? Will they expect me to do so?
@Neuro15 you usually have answers. Any thoughts?

There are no safety schools. Even if you're applying with a highly competitive background, it won't count for much if all your experience is computational and the Department is looking to recruit students who can work a wet lab, or if the faculty don't find the theme or direction of your research compelling. Departmental fit will be more important in most cases -- this has been repeated here ad nauseam.

    Best wishes to all!

Your research experience is great and you've applied to a range of schools. So long as your letters of rec are positive and your statement of purpose is solid, I think you'll be fine. Don't let the trolls get you down. Good luck!

    Hey Folks,

I applied last year, and I know these waiting days and the interviews can be stressful for you guys. Let me know if you have any question about applications and interviews.
For the starters, don't worry much about GRE .

I used the R code from the Psychology forum and changed the search term to "bioengineering" to produce the attached result based on scraped data from the gradcafe survey. Should be helpful in determining when to expect interview invites! Note: this only searches bioengineering and not biomedical engineering. The lack of quality/uniformity in the data (all the different ways of typing in a school's name, for example, make them each individual entries) is something to keep in mind.

I believe they are doing rolling admissions. I've also applied to Rice SSPB but a day before the deadline (December 23rd, 2017). Hoping I hear from them soon! Thanks for letting us know and congrats!

I really love the theme of this thread. It feels like the last fortress of hope standing tall among the anxiety, fear and indeterminacy plaguing the rest of the forum.
For what it's worth, I am done with all 12 of my applications and laid all of my application-related files on my desktop to their resting folder. Now we wait and do some easy-reading!
