Man Without Qualities

FINALLY! Just got an email from the director of Graduate Studies at Brandeis. Off the wait list and I have a real actual official offer in hand.

I'm feeling bolstered by my meeting at the university yesterday. I don't have any more actual information regarding my particular situation, but I was told that there are people who have not responded to their acceptances and that the school is actively reaching out to get a gauge on where their decisions might stand. People are taking a very long time and at least one person is waiting to see how their own waitlist situation pans out before making a decision. BUT, I was told that the meeting wouldn't even be happening if there wasn't a very good chance things would work out for me. So although I'm still stressed and frustrated, I'm feeling a little better knowing that I have all the information I can possibly have right now.

I have had enough of the bullying by @Telkanuru, @Sigaba, and others. They have been condescending and abusive and are doing a disservice to the applicants just trying to get advice.


 
I can’t imagine that the institutions where these bullies study would in any way condone what they have been doing. I have decided to make an example of Telkanuru. Therefore, I have emailed the following people at Brown - Amy Remensnyder, Robert Self and Christina Paxson about the abuse with relevant links.

 
If there is any more bullying, I will notify other institutions about the despicable behavior of their graduate students. Sigaba and the others, you have been warned.

Seriously. This is going to be what future cycles take from the 2017 thread? Maybe some of the veterans need to chill if they can't interact with new people with some grace.

Admitted to UC Riverside! I'm thrilled as there is a faculty member there, who has a fantastic mongraph on the topic on which I will also write. 
For anyone waiting from them, they said that the graduate college is being a little slow processing things this year. Patience...

Congrats! I suspect Penn is the one for me but I'll have to pro/con list for a while. I assume your subfield is European? 

I just received an offer to U Penn and am so enormously relieved/happy! Hopefully this is a good news week for everyone.

As @nevermind stated, I attend Oklahoma (I'm assuming you meant U. of Ok), so if you need any information, ask away! I'm in history of science, not history, but I've been on this campus for a very long time. As per funding, I'm unsure how funding will be in history, but it was pretty tight last year in the history department. However, that said, it's pretty easy to find GA positions on campus, in my experience. Last year's history of science contingent only had two offers of funding out of five ultimate enrollees, and now, one semester in, everyone has funding. There's a lot of quasi-generic options for GAs on campus.

Congrats on your acceptance! I believe @Neist attends the HoS program. He may be a good resource regarding the town, the university, etc.

Can't we just leave politics out of all this. Lets just try to support eachother. Political opinions shouldn't matter here. Lets make this a place of positivity. We're all colleagues here.
