Hi. I just got an unofficial email saying I got in organic chemistry track masters! Yeah Saturday night.

Just contacted Caltech. Apparently all their admits have gone out and they hope to update the website by the end of the week. Hope that puts some minds at rest!

Well, considering the cost of living in Palo Alto I would hope so.

I was accepted to the program at MIT (:O) this past Friday through a phone call. I was not offered an interview and I'm interested in chemical biology.

According to the Results page (if you search "Harvard Chemistry"), the acceptances for Harvard went out like January 25/26 so I'm assuming it'll be similar this year. As for Caltech I'm not sure.

Depends on the school? I imagine that is pretty unlikely, though..

As an update, called Stanford. They said they expect to have decisions made by the end of January/Early February. I tried calling Berkeley too, however I wasn't able to actually get through to a person with how many 'bots there were in between me and said person. So I won't be able to give an update on them.

I'm fairly sure Stanford's folks are out at lunch today, and I've got to head out to work before they'll likely be back - I'll try and call later if I get a chance, though if someone else wants to that'd rock.

Cornell told me next two weeks, the admissions committee is still looking at applications.

Who’s ready for the first round of offers from Stanford tomorrow?? Hah. Just kidding around.. but if they do the same thing as last year they sent a ton out the Tuesday after MLK Monday. I think last year most of the offers on 1/17/17 were for organic.

Princeton does something similar - it seems to always be over the 1-3 days after MLK Day. If that's anything to go by, we should expect it out this week. Also seems to happen right before MLK day but I'm pretty sure that's not happening.
Apparently, according to an email, "Admission decisions will be emailed on a rolling basis to all applicants between February 1 and March 15". Not sure what to believe...

You are already applying to some great programs and as discussed earlier in this thread, Berkeley and Chapel Hill would have been harder to get into as an international student rather than a domestic student regardless of your CV and scores!

You  pay for flights then get reimbursed! Hotel is charged directly to the department.

Yeah, I decided to look up the cost of living - it's pretty high. Comparable to cities like Sydney, Seattle, Boston, and London. But hey, it's not Switzerland, so that's good. If me being in Sydney is anything to go by, 28k USD take home should be fine.

No point contacting the person back. I was contacted by a member of the admission's committee, but the only info he gave me is re-listed on this email.

Just got into UC Berkeley for Organic! Cannot believe it!
The e-mail says "By this time, you should have been contacted by a member of Chemistry's admission's committee" but this has not happened haha. Should I e-mail the person back saying this hasn't happened? Or is there no point?

I got my first acceptance and it's to my top choice! I can't believe it, I didn't expect to get in, let alone this early. I'm scared to accept the offer in case I wake up....

    Hi @dorkstep
From what I gather, you are a competitive candidate. However, with US schools, you need to consider fit into those school's department. It's not aiming high because who wouldn't dream of working/getting a degree from those schools. It does come down to fit.
Hope this helps or makes sense.

    Hi
I am in an almost identical situation to yourself but applying for Inorganic chemistry programs. I was wondering whether you have had any insight into your chances. My U.K professors have said that this application would be strong (depending on the reputation of your current UK university) however, I still believe it is necessary to have at least one publication, despite it being rare to do so in undergrad in the U.K. Most other international and domestic US students usually have a few publications.
