  1. There are still two rejections up though, and none from BU. I'm pretty sure BC has started sending stuff out. I'm still waiting on a response from them too. (I also applied to BU and heard back the other week.)
  2. I hope that doesn't mean we're out of the running.
  3. I haven't heard anything yet. Either of you mind sharing your stats?
  4. Accepted to terminal MA at Brandeis with a $10k scholarship, TAship, and the possibility of more aid! 3a/0w/0r out of 5 MA/MS 0a/0w/2r out of 3 PhD
  5. That's what it sounded like to me too, so I'm not sure. I just wanted to know if I'm still in the running for the PhD if I haven't heard anything, which it sounds like I am. No news is good news, right? ...Right?
  6. Yeah, maybe they sent out one round of acceptances? Sometimes they do it in waves.
  7. I know... They had such an early deadline too compared to most of the programs I applied to!
  8. FYI for other folks waiting on Boston College, I emailed RoseMarie DeLeo today and was told that all decisions will be sent by mail "around mid-March."
  9. I applied to the PhD at BU, but was accepted to the MA with no funding. Still nice to have another acceptance for the sake of my ego, but I don't really want to be $100k in debt just for a MA, so I'll be declining unless I somehow get some decent need-based grants. I got an informal email from the department head that basically said "Congratulations, but don't do it." 2r/0w/0a out of 3 for PhD 0r/0w/2a out of 5 for MA/MS
  10. Ugh, I know, I'm just sick of waiting! And I'm in Boston so I should get mail from them within a day.
  11. Has anyone else heard from BC? There's only that one result up from February 7th. Is it too early to bug them about it? Also interested in BU results.
  12. If what they really want to do is work in academia, then they probably applied to programs that will help them reach that goal...
  13. And besides, you still might get in to your top choices!
  14. Just because they don't have a big name doesn't mean they don't have a great program! I'm sure you selected schools for application that have great programs in your field. Maybe the ivy leagues look more impressive at first glance at a resume, but I wouldn't let that deter you if this is something you really want to do. A PhD is a PhD.
  15. Ooh, that's a really good idea! I'm going to Berlin right after graduation, I was planning on giving them gifts at the end of the semester but this might be better!
  16. Yeah, Harvard was my first choice. I applied to two other PhD programs so I really hope I get into at least one. The rest are terminal MA. The one I got into is my safety.
  17. Rejected from Harvard. To be expected but I'm still sad... 1/8 accepted, 0/8 waitlisted, 1/8 rejected
  18. I'm sure it's fine. He got it in yesterday, a day late. He got all the other ones in right at midnight too so I know what that's like! But now they're all in and all there is to do is wait...
  19. One of my deadlines was yesterday and the prof has not submitted the LOR, despite assuring me yesterday in class that he was on top of it! However, he's gotten everything else in on time (this is the last deadline), and it's not my first choice of schools anyway, so I'm not that worried about it. Waiting for the LORs is definitely the most stressful part of the app process though-- apart from waiting for a decision once everything is in!
  20. I don't have any experience with publication myself, but I don't think it's unusual to use a preferred name-- lots of people use their initials or go by their middle name. It makes sense to use the name you go by if that's what people know you as.
  21. Also wow, who got into Harvard?! Congrats! Mind sharing your stats?
  22. Can anyone confirm the BC acceptance on 2/7/17 listed in results? Any more info?
