  1. Yes, Biology and Religion
  2. Thank you so much for your opinion, it means a lot! Thankfully I have 2 months to think about this. This is going to be torture! P.S. is it 'pidgey' as in the pokemon ? lol
  3. Yes please post some details about the meet and greet. I can't go either
  4. So I have somewhat of a problem... My top 2 choices were York and OISE. York declined me, OISE accepted me. Even AFTER I got accepted into York, I decided to ask for a second review because I know that I am actually overqualified. They agreed with me and I just found out that I got into York. Now I am trying to decide between York and OISE. York = 10,000 cheaper ($15 000 total), easier for me to get to- the GO Bus is a 5 min walk from my house and goes directly there, alternatively I can drive there if I want to, I get 4 months next summer off, easier program, and my friend will be going there OISE = 10,000 more ($25 000 total), more difficult for me to get to (car and then subway) so transportation will be more expensive, program is 20 months longer, the program is more difficult There are 2 reasons why I want to go to OISE: the prestige of it being the best teacher's college in Canada, and also the fact that I get my Masters However, I am having doubts about whether it even matters if I have my masters. I am pretty sure that whether we get a BEd. or a Masters, we will still be A3 in the payscale. Also, I can always just get my masters online later. I think the only benefit of a masters if I want to be a principal one day.... Anybody have any opinions about this? I hate decisions like this
  5. I'm in I/S with teachables in biology and religion
  6. Thank you! Yes, it was updated on March 8th (and that is the day that my letter is dated for)
  7. Looks like I spoke too soon. I just received my letter (finally). It is dated for March 8th. I received acceptances for P/J, J/I, and I/S ... I'm going to accept J/I or I/S so hopefully that will open up a P/J spot for someone!
  8. I just called the registrar and asked them if they could tell me what I got accepted for (I am not sure which division, or which teachables). They said that they cannot tell me over the telephone, and that it could take until the end of March (or even later) to receive my letter....
  9. My friend who is not an OISE student said that she was given an email address awhile ago. Maybe she is wrong .... but are you sure you don't have one ? When it is time to get your TCard,I believe you can go to UTM or Scarborough if those are more convenient for you. Here are the TCard and email steps from OISE: http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/ec/Services/Internet_Email/New_Students.html
  10. Exactly you're right, in this case, no news is better than bad news. Do you have a backup plan just in case?
  11. I think they will probably accept more people after the 3 week time period of the first round expires (offers dated for March 1st expire around March 21st)....A bunch of people are accepting/declining offers right now, so probably after March 21st more people will be accepted.
  12. What if you call them and ask them the difference though? It seems strange to me also because they do some really similar. I just think that the MT one is more focused on research projects/a thesis.
  13. This might sound like a stupid reason, but "Master of Teaching" sounds more like a general qualification, which employers might think is more relevant to different jobs... As in, let's say later in life you would like to teach adults at a college/university/some other place. The MT would sound better in that case instead of the MACSE, since the MACSE is based on 'children'. This may be a silly reason, and it may not even apply to you, but it is something to think about maybe for some people.
  14. Oh thank you for letting me know!!!! ... So that means that if mine is dated for the 1st, then I would have to reply by the 21st... Okay maybe I should call them tomorrow then!!
  15. Well, my situation is not so bad. I know I was accepted. I just don't know for which divisions P/J, J/I, I/S, and I don't know what my teachables are... Considering the meet and greet is a week from today, I will wait until Tuesday. If I don't hear from them by then, then I will call. I did send an e-mail 2 days ago, but they did not respond yet.
  16. I'm honestly getting really annoyed. Why are they doing it through snail mail? It is 2017!!!!!! I need to know now! lol
  17. Of course the stats for admissions have everything to do with how many applications they look at. The stats say exactly how many applications they look at, and how many they accept. I am not sure where you are going with that. But anyways, yes, remain calm and positive. It is very stressful until you find out!!
  18. They don't sift through thousands of applicants for this program. Look at the stats from previous years (they are posted on this thread). For example, 2014/2015 school year, there was 952 applicants, and they accepted 394.... 2015/2016 1420 applicants and they accepted 612
  19. Yeah I know what you mean... you might end up paying a non-refundable deposit to another school, and then all of a sudden find out your are accepted....
  20. Maybe contact them and ask them what is the latest date that people will find out if they are accepted / declined? I am not sure if they have finished accepting people, or if they are still doing it.... I know some people have received info that they are on a waitlist. It does seem that OISE is being really slow though.... IE., I thought we would be notified March 1st, but I only received an e-mail yesterday.
  21. I still did not get my letter in the mail, but I did get the 'Meet and Greet' email. This is the beginning of it: Congratulations! You have been recommended to the Master of Teaching (MT) Program in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Your offer of admission is on its way to you if you haven't received it already. Please read the letter carefully when it arrives. It will include information about the division to which you were offered admission and any conditions that need to be satisfied before registration (e.g. submission of final official transcripts). If you applied to more than one program, you will receive more than one notification of results letter. They may or may not arrive at the same time.
  22. Just accept York for now (As long as you don't have to send them any money yet)... you can always decline later on.
  23. log in to acorn or rosi and check there
  24. Does anybody actually have a status different than 'under review' ?
  25. My friend wants to log in to Acorn to see if she got accepted. How can she log in if she is not a U of T student? Does she have to speak to someone at University of Toronto to be able to login? Or will she not be able to log in?
