Thanks. Did you update the program and application season data for your entries? Edit: I went ahead and did it. The only issue with this is, every once in a while someone will come in, destroy all the data, and then I have to roll it back to a previous version (like just happened).

*NOTE* Filter System has been suspended until further notice due to Google Sheets switching values inappropriately. A previous version has been restored for 1453 PDT 02/16/19. Please still enter data as available. Thank you.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for each other, yea?

Haha, yeah, sometimes I've learned from the website and never once got an email from the program. I only check pages once a weekend. I mean, getting accepted doesn't mean I have 24 hours to accept. xD Best thing you gotta due is just take your hands off the wheel and let fate/pure unadulterated luck do the rest. xD
-
Look at my signature. You never learn. xD I spend all my time here. But, compared to my first couple times, I just don't bother with refreshing application pages, anymore. I already know that there is really nothing more that I can do.

Let's hope not too bad.

I think the priority funding is best. The deadline that gives people the best opportunities.

Check out this post I created and enter your data! @TGCA responded to a thread I started and suggested someone start a excel sheet full of Deadlines for various programs. But this is crowd sourced, so I need all the data you have to be entered into this excel sheet, so @TGCA can create a tool to help people quickly find application deadlines! This is a tool we all very badly needed. So, I hope it serves a great purpose to future applications like TGC has done for us.

They are so very wrong. When it comes to any program, there is always someone who has worked harder than you and there is always more people applying to things than you think.- 274 replies

How to remove filters: Look for the filter icon and click it. Select the arrows located next to "Text Contains." Select "None" from the dropdown menu. Click "OK" and the filters will be removed. Be sure to do that to all tabs with filters. Hope this helps. ?

There needs to be a universal location for deadlines for programs so you can easily search what programs you have left. I suggested this in the questions sections and @TGCA suggested making a Google Sheet. So, I have done just that. How to use the Deadlines List Google Sheet: Use this link Deadlines List to access the Google Sheet Select the "Filter views..." icon on the right hand side of the top menu bar and Select "Create new temporary filter view" from the drop down menu. Select the drop down arrow on any tab to select the filter option A filter menu will appear. Navigate to "Filter by condition..." and click the arrow next to it. In the drop down menu, select "Text Contains." A field will appear that says "Value or formula." Type in the name of the university, program, etc (as applicable for each tab) and select "OK." The tab will now display all items that match that criteria. You can use multiple filters to hone your search. How to enter data in the Google Sheet: Use this link Deadlines List to access the Google Sheet Under "TGC University," type any portion of the University name. Find the option that best fits and select it from the drop-down menu. Under "TGC Program" type in any portion of the name of the program you're applying to. Find the option that best fits and select it from the drop-down menu. Note: If you've applied to a program with a very specific name such as " Underground Construction & Tunnel Engineering" and you can't find it in the drop-down list, type the name as is, but only after you're sure you can't find it. Under "Degree Type" enter in the type of degree the deadline applies to. (For example, a Master's in Science would be entered "MS.") Under the "Deadline" column, enter in the date in the following format: DD/MM. (For example, March 1st should be entered in as "01/03", which the program will convert to "1-Mar".) Finally, under "Application Season," type in the season in which the deadline applies to. (For example, Fall 2019 will be written F19 and Spring 20 will be S20. In the event of a Summer deadline, type "Summer19") Data entered in the Google Sheet is crowd sourced and is on an integrity basis. We are hoping to have a simple method for people to find application dates for programs or schools they're interested in. If data for that year is not available, they can look at what the deadlines were last year to get a general idea and then enter in a new entry with the deadline once they find out. If you applied to or hope to apply to a graduate program, please take the opportunity to update the Google Sheet with the previous and current application deadline. The more data we have, the better it is for everyone. Remember that sweet tool you used from 2013 to get an idea of GRE acceptance scores? Well, make this tool available to future applicants.

That's the expensive part I was referring to. lol

You can be excited about all of them. It seems to me your mother is a terrible person, even if she thinks she means well. Truthfully, it seems to me like you need to accept the offer that is the furthest away from here.

What hobbies do you have that you hope to continue in grad school?
Ternwild replied to placeinspace's topic in Waiting it Out
Acting. I know it sounds weird, but acting is fun, even if I suck at it. xD -
Oh? Ruined due to not wanting to get in? Or exterior life things?

But also and expensive alternative >_<.

I know the reason she doesn't want you to leave is because she doesn't think that your relationship can survive a long distance. Which, for most of them, they don't. Whether it will or not is hard to tell and largely depends on how long your relationship has gone on for and how strong it is, now. With all that speculation, aside, the most important thing is this: if you're in a relationship with someone who doesn't want to support their dreams, but expects you to support theirs, you should reconsider your relationship situation. That said, I suggest asking people on /r/relationships.- 274 replies

Shoot, in F18, I applied to WashU. In F17 I got accepted to WashU and spoke to my POI there, but wasn't able to attend. That POI petitioned to have me accepted to the PhD program in F18 AND I knew the Director of Admissions. As luck would have it, he was out of town and not apart of the the admissions committee that year, but put in a good word. I still got rejected in F18 and F19. xD Nothing is ever sure, man.- 274 replies

The general GRE is way easier than you think. Most people make above 30th percentile...which is why it is called the 30th percentile (that's the low side). That doesn't mean top 30th, it is the value for lower numbers. Shoot for 150, for the most part, that's 50th+ percentile. Also, for the basic geometry and math, try Khan Academy. It's free.
