  1. The admissions office said we would hear next week!
  2. Decisions are coming later this year. Trying to keep productive with other things so I don't go crazy!
  3. I just got off the phone with admissions about a question I had on my application. I also checked in on the decision status and was told we’d hear back in a couple of weeks. The answers started more specific and are slowly becoming more vague! Haha. I guess all we can do is wait.
  4. Come on y’all! Let’s hear some good news today!
  5. It's rolling. Priority decisions come in February for those who applied before the deadline and I believe they start rolling admissions in March.
  6. That’s awesome! Such a cool program track.
  7. Hey there! Still waiting here also. I applied to the Kline fellowship scholarship for policy practice. What about you?
  8. I attended one of the summer information sessions and asked a similar question. If I remember correctly, there aren't less advanced standing students because it is capped. They just see a lot more two year students applying from different backgrounds. I do remember the advisor saying that with advanced standing students in particular, they are looking for students who have a good sense of what they want to do with their degree. Since you are jumping straight into year two of the program, they are looking for students who have a clear direction.
  9. Harder to get into Advanced Standing than two year?
  10. I emailed NYU and requested an extension through the end of March and they gave it to me. I think they are flexible but you have to be specific about what you want or they will give you the standard extension. This was my second extension they gave me. I asked for the end of March because in years past, Columbia hasn't released any financial aid packages until March. Hopefully that is different this year!
  11. Haha there are so many Columbia threads now! I applied for Advanced Standing in person.
  12. Thank you! I am hopeful! I think the majority of their students are traditional two year. A good friend of mine is at Columbia now doing ASP. I forget what she said about the size of her cohort.
  13. I hope I hear something Thursday or Friday! But I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I expect to know by the end of next week based on what they told me.
  14. Did you ever get that email from Columbia? I never got that email but in my portal it says everything is there.
  15. I got the same email from NYU long after everything was submitted, and then was accepted a couple days later. I think both schools use the same application portal. I would just take that as they've opened your application, everything is there, and it's probably under review. I emailed the admissions office at Columbia last week and they said priority applications are currently under review and I should hear early February. Others have said decisions start coming February 1st.
  16. I emailed the office on Friday to check in and the lady who emailed me back said to expect a decision early February. In years past, traditional two year students have heard before advanced standing students. So I was just wondering!
  17. Sure! Graduated in 2016 with 3.75 cumulative GPA, Phi Alpha Social Work Society member, 2.5 years experience as a non-profit case manager specializing in homelessness, severe mental illness, and substance abuse. Plus sat on additional local planning committees. 1+ year experience as an inpatient mental health technician at the regional hospital. LORs from my two different bosses and field instructor. Volunteer community group leader for two years and listed all my mandatory service learning hours for my BSW as volunteer experience.
  18. That's good! When did you apply? And are you advanced standing or traditional two year?
  19. I am an advanced standing candidate! I'm hopeful to enroll in the policy track.
  20. I actually received that amount without completing my FAFSA. I need to finish it and turn that in lol.
  21. $17,000 is the highest offer I've seen here thus far. I saw a lot of $11,000-$12,000 offers. So I was surprised when I saw that in my acceptance letter!
  22. They teased us with the early admissions last year! Some came mid-January.
  23. February 1st! That's great. But this also doesn't really solve my problem as financial aid information won't be made available till March if I'm admitted. I might so bold as to request a March 31st extension from NYU haha.
  24. Congrats on those acceptances! I was also accepted to NYU with a $17,000 offer. I'm waiting to see what I hear from Columbia as that is my first choice. I could see myself going to NYU though if Columbia doesn't offer much in scholarships should I be accepted.
  25. Hmm. Interesting. Keep my updated on what happens with that. I don't want to keep NYU on the hook if I don't have to!
