  1. @Waiting is the WorstThat makes me feel better! lol Hopefully we hear back this week
  2. I'm still waiting on Northeastern. I know they sent out a few waves of acceptances so idk what to make of it.. anyone familiar with their process?
  3. I did too, and no info on funding either which I'm bummed about. Does anyone know how much tuition is?
  4. Thanks! I do have that, I guess the merit-based/ GA info will be found under that too when it's ready!
  5. Hello everyone! I was wondering if those who have been accepted to the University of Vermont have been notified that they received a scholarship? Thanks!
  6. @MassSLP2be - First of all, I hope that your interview went well! I am also applying to UNH and I'm a little confused by their process. I know that people have gotten interviews/ acceptances in waves. Do you happen to know if they're done doing interviews now, and since I have not gotten one yet, should I assume that I'm rejected? I'm surprised they decided to do interviews since their website says nothing about them. Thank you!
  7. Does anyone know anything about the UNH admission process ? I've seen people getting accepted/ doing interviews but I did not know that they did interviews! If we didn't get one yet, should we assume that we are rejected?? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the info! I actually ended up calling the department and they said we will hear sometime this week/ early next week. Good luck to everyone, and I hope you can find cheap plane tickets @mlr!!
  9. Okay, cool! Thanks for the responses It's just so weird that the website has been down for about a day now!
  10. Hi everyone, Is anyone else here applying to BU? I heard that we were suppose to hear about being invited to interview this week, however when I went to double check that this information was correct on their speech pathology webpage, it seems to be nonexistent! Anyone else having this problem/ have heard back from BU yet? Thanks!
  11. I currently work as a paid research assistant, working with participants who have TBI and/or PTSD. It's really been great working in an academic environment, and being able to work directly with study participants who have TBI (a population I'm very interested in). I would strongly recommend looking into research labs!
  12. Hello! I had a similar problem with my GRE. I'm just so bad at standardized tests that I scored 155V 145Q and 5.0 AW and I have a mediocre GPA (3.59). I feel like a lot of schools “now-a-days” really look at the entire applicant, not just GRE’s. If you have an excellent personal statement, excellent letters of recommendation, and valuable experience, I think THAT makes a strong applicant too. You shouldn't take yourself out of the running because you didn't score great on one section that's not exactly relevant to our field. Other than quant, you seem like a very strong applicant. My advice would be to not stress yourself out entirely. All hope is not lost due to one section out of an entire application. Give it your all and do your best on your retake, but remind yourself it's not a deal breaker. Maybe look into cut-off scores for programs. All of my programs that I'm applying to have "cut-offs" but at all of their open houses they made a point to say that an application isn't thrown out if an applicant falls below those scores (these were also high-ranking schools in Boston) Anyways, my point is don't give up on your programs because you're lacking in a subscore on one part of your application. I haven't gotten in myself, but I know plenty of other people who aren't great at calculating the area of a triangle in a minute and a half, and they still got in. If you have the time, money, and patience I think you have a shot at the programs on your list. GOOD LUCK on your GRE I completely understand the panic/ pressure. Also, good luck on your applications!
  13. Hi everyone, I'm applying to about 10 schools for a M.S. in Speech-Pathology. I've noticed that all but one school does not explicitly say anything about length, they just give their prompt and leave it at that. What is the general rule for length? 2 pages single spaced? Or do I need to call 9 schools and ask for specific length requirements? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks!
  14. @NatRose I used Magoosh and Kaplan as well :/ my practice test scores were around 149-152 so maybe it was just test day jitters who knows. Thanks for your reply though! It's so frustrating cause you're right it's about how well you know the GRE and I can't seem to get the hang of it! I hope your coworker has better luck getting into grad school! @jpiccolo That's true. I guess I threw that in there because I really want to go to school in Boston (which all 4 schools are around the top 25 and expensive) since I want to be close to my family and see myself potentially pursuing a PhD in the future. I also want to practice as a medical SLP in Boston (again, family reasons) and thought that Boston schools would have ideal placements and connections for that.
  15. Hey everyone, Over the summer I posted about my anxiety over the GRE... I finally took it and got not the best or most stellar scores: 152V 145Q and 4.5 writing I have an extensive research background (soon to have a publication as first-author), good LORs, a solid SOP which has been reviewed by multiple professionals, but an average GPA (3.58). I'm just freaking out and have so much anxiety over the GRE, most of my schools say they view each applicant holistically or that they still review applications even if the GRE is below their "cut off." I'm retaking the test on 10/30, but I honestly do not think that I'll be able to do much better than I did (hopefully not worse!!!!). Anyways, I just had my hopes up to go to schools ranked within the top 25 and to receive a research assistantship to help with funding and I feel like my GRE threw all of that out the window. I'm just absolutely abysmal at standardized tests due to the timing and pressure and the fact that I'm just generally bad at them. Is anyone else in a similar position? Need to vent? The GRE has made me seriously question my intelligence and I feel hopeless!
  16. Hi everyone, I'm writing to vent/ possibly get advice on the GRE because I'm SO nervous about it. I'll be taking it at the end of September. I've been trying to study as much as possible on/ off for the past couple of months, but I just feel like my scores aren't improving on my practice tests and I don't know what to do about it (I'm scoring low 150s for verbal and haven't broken 150 yet for math. I just want to get the minimum of 150 per section!). I'm currently signed up for the 6mo Magoosh class, and I've been plugging away at the lesson videos but there's just so much material! I spend about 15 hours a week studying, but I work full-time as a research assistant (so I usually work a bit of unpaid overtime as well), so it's absolutely exhausting to try to do more. I guess I'm just feeling burnt out/ overly frustrated with this. Every time I think of exam day I want to cry/panic/throw up haha. Is anyone going through something similar? If anyone has advice/ tips/ words of encouragement it would be great!!
  17. Hello! I've created an account on CSDCAS to apply to speech pathology masters programs for the 2018 cycle. I've been entering all of the information required on the site, but I do not see anywhere that specifically asks for a CV/ resume. Is it typical for programs not to require one, or could I be missing something? There is also no information regarding one on the schools' websites. Thanks
