  1. Does anyone know what the average scores are out of on the feedback page?
  2. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to defer the PGS-D award. I was enrolled in a combined MA/PhD program, but then decided to leave with just the master's (finishing this summer) to apply for a PhD in a different province for a September 2021 start date. I am wondering if I can defer the award to this start date? Thanks for your advice,
  3. Any movement on the waitlist for uOttawa?
  4. The experimental psychology program
  5. Just got notified I won an OGS.... for a school I won't be going to (York). Still on the wait-list for OGS for the school I accepted an offer from (Ottawa).
  6. SFU. Good luck for anyone on the alternate, I hope this will help out!
  7. Offered for a school that I am going to be declining the program offer
  8. Thank you everyone for the advice. I think you are right that I shouldn't go into the clinical program if I don't see myself doing clinical work after.
  9. Yes they are both for Canadian universities, which take tuition from the stipend. So although both offer equal stipends, the clinical program has a more expensive tuition resulting in less "living expenses" funding.
  10. Hello everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind. I have been accepted to my top choice for both clinical and experimental. Both programs are with supervisors who do exactly the kind of research I want to do. The clinical program has a bit higher tuition rates, and I think I get along better with the supervisor from the experimental program. There are also more learning opportunities for different neuroimaging techniques in the experimental program. My end goal is to do research, hopefully, eventually become a professor - and I know this is really difficult to get into. With the clinical, there does seem to be more job postings for professorships, but I am a bit worried about the fact that there isn't as much research training. I'm also not sure I am super passionate about the clinical side of things. Everyone I have spoken to has highly recommended that I take the clinical path because of how bleak the job prospects are for experimental though. With experimental, it is something that I am really passionate about, but everyone I know who has graduated with an experimental PhD has had a really hard time finding a job. Majority have gone into industry, and don't seem to enjoy that as much. Does anyone have any advice?
  11. I interviewed at Ryerson and haven't heard back. On the website they do say mid to late March, so it could still be later this week or next I think. Here's hoping for news soon!
  12. I'm in the same boat. Was notified I have been waitlisted for OGS for uOttawa. They also said in the email they won't release the ranking of the waitlist if asked. So no idea what the chances of coming off the waitlist are.
  13. Oh hm. I haven't gotten an official rejection but I was definitely not accepted then (I did a preliminary skype interview but nothing further). I found out this week I won a major provincial scholarship to Calgary though. I've heard some people contact the department after finding out they win scholarships, and then get accepted, but not sure if that is actually a good strategy.
  14. I feel like it is these types of superficial comments that would immediately discourage me from wanting to accept an offer from a program. I think I would be more embarrassed for the current grad students making those comments - I mean what kind of full grown adult working towards a doctorate makes catty comments about a student's clothes? On another note (not that it matters much, as my clothes shouldn't be part of my application for so many different reasons). I did just come back from an interview day, and I was the only person there wearing a suit. I guess I would be considered the one who "stood out".
  15. Did anyone else just get an email from Queens about you’re invited to Celebrating Graduate Studies? Does anyone know what that is?
  16. If a POI says they have put your name forward to the committee, but ultimately the committee will rank the applicants and decide who the offers go out to. What do you think the chances are of getting an offer? That might be kind of a hard question to answer. I'm just really anxious as it is my top choice.
  17. Concordia is going to meet and send out acceptances in March. Still have a while to wait
  18. Hello everyone, I have an interview coming up with my POI's collaborator. I am not entirely sure what questions I should be asking at this type of interview as I am not confirmed to be working under them as well.. They are a professor at the university that my POI works frequently with on research projects. Does anyone have any tips or ideas for what types of questions I should ask? I really appreciate it.
  19. Sorry to hear that. Keep your hopes up though! Also not to pry, but I was wondering if your email was from the program or your POI.
  20. Hey everyone, I saw on the results page from previous years that for one of the universities I applied to, many of the applicants got waitlisted pending the results of their external funding applications. I was wondering if this was common practice? This is definitely adding to my anxiety over this university, as I was unable to apply for any external funding for here (I had a limit of five schools). Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
  21. Hey everyone, I was wondering what you're supposed to do when applying for tri council funding if you plan on applying to 10 or so universities, but in the funding application you're only allowed to specify up to five universities? Thanks for any answers!
