If you can, just south of Montana, Wyoming has Devil's Tower which is amazing and instead of going through North Dakota, I'd go through South Dakota. Mount Rushmore, The Badlands, Custer State Park, etc. are all absolutely amazing.

I never said there was such. There are male dominated professions and woman dominated professions however.
This is simply not true. Please link to the scientific evidence behind this.
Environmental factors may account for a portion of the variance in profession choice, but not even close to all. We know that baby infant males and females have demonstrably different preferences and behavior traits prior to environmental factors, so your theory is false.
Science also shows us that male and female brains are quite different from each other. Differing levels of testosterone in the womb leads to divergent brain chemistry and development in males and females before birth.
Lastly, competition and cooperation are not zero-sum. Environments need to have both - and the levels of each is debatable - to achieve optimal outcomes. More cooperation does not necessarily mean more success.
They do not necessarily change to whomever is in charge, where's the evidence for that? Institutional behavior can persist long after the removal or turnover of leaders or members.
I also linked a study that was done where it showed that woman were given preference in job applications based on their name being on the CV. When names were removed entirely form the CVs, men were favored. I also linked to a comprehensive and methodologically deep study that showed that women were favored in STEM job hiring by approximately 33%. That was completely ignored of course, but whatever.
I am not part of the problem for 'denying your experiences' whatever that means. You are part of the problem for spreading false, and in many cases completely ideological (not factual), information.

i have no idea how much to tip people. was supposed to order pizza for group meeting. got $75 worth of pizza. I only tipped like $3, and apparently, the norm is $5 PLUS 10% or some shit. why?? just pay your damn employees a good wage, cover their gas, with vehicle depreciation. we're not in the 60s anymore. tipping is a retarded practice. be gone.

    Thank you!
Just finished my visit and it was fantastic, though sadly I mostly saw the area around the university and a little of Clayton. It seems pretty nice there.

@pnc95 I'm in a very similar situation as you. Better program fit vs. better research fit.  @StemCellFan how do we make a decision based on mentors accurately? We can get some info from graduate students on visits and based on the 30 minute or so interaction we had with them on, but I don't feel like I could accurately make a strong judgement until I actually work with them. So when it comes to rotations, I think choosing a better mentor vs. better research fit makes sense. But when it comes down to an initial school choice, I'm in the same boat as pnc. Program fit vs. research fit, and not sure what to weigh as more important

As far as mentor choice, it's true that you don't really know for sure until you go through rotations.  I've been basing my observations on this by talking to students or meeting the faculty myself, but yeah my advice on this is probably better suited for someone trying to pick their thesis lab after rotations!

As far as program vs. research, I don't know what is objectively more important.  For me, research fit would outweigh the program structure, unless it was terrible in my eyes (i.e. students typically graduate on the 7 year end rather than 5, no students have been successful in securing pre-doctoral awards, you're constantly taking required classes throughout your PhD, etc)

Not really a rejection but this was last year from a Sociology applicant at Cornell:
God, Buda, Odin, Ganesha, Jeff Bridges, Zlatan, Beyoncé, I pray to thee. Let someone find their golden choice and turn Cornell's offer down.

Congratulations!!  I visited the campus once a while back and it's beautiful!  I hear good things about their Bio program too.
On that note, I sent the response back today and I've committed to University of Wisconsin!  I also received an email from the graduate school asking for my official transcripts and that an "official offer" cannot be made until they see these.  Is there anything I should worry about?  Do some applicants get rejections from the graduate school although the program emailed them an acceptance letter?  I haven't notified the other programs of my decision yet.  I graduated undergrad years ago if it helps.

I wore a dressy white shirt with a black blazer over top and then red dress pants and black boots for interview days for business casual. But there are definitely people wearing dress pants with sweaters or nicer tops too, not everyone is in a blazer/suit! All other days are normal casual, I usually went with jeans and a sweater or something like that.
