Lord, yes. I felt this after the Emory interviews went out. Lol! I think this describes all congrats I give on here. The emotions generated by this thread are chaotic. -

Woah. I didn't even apply there, and seeing that on the results board got me anxious! Congrats and good luck to the interviewee! -

@TakeruK Thank you so, so much for this post. It's so good to hear from somebody on your end of things. Your program sounds incredible; I'd love to know where you went via PM, if you'd rather not disclose publicly. The thought process for choosing a school sounds very similar to ours. We do hope to eventually get closer to our families, but agree that me getting a degree from the best school possible for me will increase the odds. I only applied to schools where he and I would both be willing to live and where his job could be transferred. My dream right now is to have enough offers that I can decide what's best for us all--rather than just going to the only place that takes me! A big part of my decision to get my master's where I did was the resources available to graduate parents, and that is information I only got when I started talking to students who were in the program. Hoping I get to gather that sort of information from the other schools I applied to! Thank you again! -
Shellacked again...

I'm not even getting false alarms! And, really, this obsession is becoming a problem. I was having a perfectly interesting conversation with my co-workers, but halfway into it I started having legit anxiety that I wasn't near my phone or computer. Hoping for news from OSU this week sometime. -

Talking to one of my schools about an issue logging on to my account, the woman on the phone opened my records to check on the situation and asked, "For your graduate GPA, it reads 8.939 (or some such erroneous number). Is that right?" Since both of my previous schools recorded GPAs out of 4.0, no that is most certainly not right. I'm certain I triple-checked these sorts of things on all my apps, so I'm thinking it may have been a system error. Here's hoping adcomms and other administrators look at my transcripts if they see something like that... -

Nothing sane or healthy about how often I check my emails/the results board/this forum, but I'm not gonna pretend like that's gonna stop soon. I do make an effort to leave my phone in the opposite side of the house when I'm at home to reduce the obsessive check-ins. In the meantime, I am trying to read more--although I was silly enough to think I could get a "head start" with grad school and work on my reading list for that. After the implied rejection from Emory (since I didn't get invited to interview), I'm feeling disheartened and find I want to binge-watch TV shows instead. I'm currently finishing up The Good Place, Black Mirror, and The End of the F***ing World. I have plans to start The Crown, Dark, Mindhunter, Godless, Glow, and like 10 other shows. The End of the F***ing World is on Netflix and is definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea since it's dark comedy and pretty violent, but I'm crazy about it. I've also been playing Yoshi's Woolly World and working on jigsaw puzzles. Really living life while I wait, lol. -

Yes, congrats! Whew. That's an implied rejection for me, so, bleh. But best of luck to those who interview. -

I know I'll find bloopers galore if I dig, but I'm holding myself back from looking at any of my documents for sanity's sake. -

That you have anything saved is awesome! Our savings wouldn't take us far. I think it also depends on my husband's job--he's hoping to transfer, so I guess we'd go whenever they want him! Kind of hoping that gives me an excuse to quit earlier. -

Even though I like a lot of my colleagues and even *most of the time* my supervisor, I'm still dreaming of when I get to tell them I'm out. Unfortunately, I think I need to wait until sometime in the summer to let them know, since I will need to keep a source of income up until right before we move. -

@FreakyFoucault I work in a university research institution and spend a lot of time banging my head against a wall doing the same, except with doctors *and* academics. I like a lot of what I do, but I've gotten very fed up working to improve other people's projects instead of conducting my own. In short, I'm bored. It's been really useful, though, in helping me to narrow my interests. I've specialized in early modern stuff for a long time, but I've been able to refine my focus--early modern medicine and medical rhetoric. I've been pleasantly surprised at the parallels between my interests and the conversations taking place in contemporary health sciences. -

Yeah...this was part of my New Year's "resolution." I had all of these nice ideas of really committing to my daily tasks to make up for how distracted I was in the fall, but... -
