  1. Hi all, will be joining Management PhD program at Columbia Business School in fall! Will be moving from the midwest, so need to brace myself for the rent in NYC.
  2. Replied last week. Won't be able to join unfortunately
  3. Hi there, I got accepted, but am still deciding whether to accept the offer.
  4. Yale SOM O&M program may not be taking any students this year. Also got rejected.
  5. I've opted out of waitlist.
  6. Echoing the posts above. Would also say having pre-doctoral research experience gives you a leg up during the increasingly competitive application process. Here is a link to MIT Sloan predoc opportunities: https://mitsloan.mit.edu/programs/phd/mit-sloan-predoctoral-opportunities I applied 3 years ago while working full time only to 4 schools and got rejected from all of them. This year, got into my dream school after applying again with a MA degree and pre-doc experience at a leading business school. Don't lose hope!
  7. Interviewed with Management and haven't heard back. Another friend of mine who interviewed also hasn't heard back. My interviewer 3 weeks ago said that they are not sure how many students they can admit this year, so they need to make a waitlist. Guess the process is taking longer than usual.
  8. Ah sad. Yeah I had the same feeling. Thanks for the info!
  9. Has anyone heard back from Yale SOM (management)? Haven't seen an interview post yet...
  10. Also interviewed with 3 faculty yesterday. Didn't hear anything about the number of offers. They did say expect to hear back within 1 week.
  11. An invite to a virtual campus visit. Meetings with current grad students and faculty arranged. The letter didn’t mention any interview will take place, but I guess there will be some informal chat to gauge interests
  12. I also got the invite, but wasn't sure if it is an interview until I saw on the result page.
  13. No for LBS. Did they say when they will release the decision?
  14. My experience is exactly the same. Applied to PhD program and was referred to MAPSS last year with 2/3 tuition waiver (after negotiating with Program director of course). This year, I applied directly and only received little over 20K. From what I heard, applicants who received over 2/3 and even full tuition waiver are usually accepted into other PhD programs. They are identified as highly qualified to carry out doctoral level of study, but may not be able to get a seat at U Chicago due to high competitiveness.
  15. Has anyone heard from UChicago MAPSS program - sociology yet?
  16. 1. Tenured professor in Organizational Behavior/Sociology 2. Management consultant focusing on corporate strategy 3. Writer 4. Researcher
  17. Hey, does anyone know when the Harvard result will come out?
  18. Hello there! I am also applying for Sociology this year, with a concentration in economic sociology and social stratification. 3.85 GPA from a top Liberal Arts College with a double major in Economics & History. Have been working as a consulting analyst at a global Financial Tech firm for 1.5+ years, first in New York and now in China. GRE: 165V/169Q/4.5AW ... poor writing score I know My biggest concern is in my Writing sample selection as I don't have a single-authored paper in social science. Have a senior thesis in social history and a co-authored class paper in Econometrics (I'm the primary author). Was wondering if submitting a history thesis is a long shot??? Or maybe I should use my co-authored econ. paper instead? Applying to: Stanford, Wisconsin, Berkeley, Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, Princeton All are pretty long shots, as I don't have a sociology background and have been out of school for almost 2 years... Haven't published any paper in undergrad either... Best luck everyone!!!
