The feelings of fear, acceptance, rejection, elation, and extreme situational depression can be felt on each and every page. It is like a roller coaster made out of academia.

Also claiming a Columbia admission, comparative subfield. It is my second cycle and before this offer, I received 12 rejections in a row. So from someone who came back from the dead: never lose hope!

I know this sounds a bit cliche, but do not give up until you've received a rejection. As I said before, I didn't get my acceptance until early-mid March, and this was far long after many other of my colleagues had gotten acceptances to other places.

Same boat here. If Columbia had sent out their full set of admissions then I suspect there would be more results posts.
I also suspect Chicago may be trickling out. Perhaps some subfields met and finalized this morning and the others will get together this week. Or not—but I'd like to sleep soundly tonight so I'm going with that prediction.

    To anyone with the:
To date, no decision has been made on your application.
Please note that most decisions on graduate admissions for fall term are made in the months of March and April and therefore you should not anticipate a decision much before that time period.
for UCLA it doesn't necessarily mean it's a waitlist or rejection. Had that notice as my decision until today but just received a letter of acceptance!

Seeing as it's past 5 pm on the East Coast, I'm assuming no more decisions are coming out today. Anyone else dreading another weekend in application purgatory?

I am on an admissions committee this year. Two things. First, you are an EXTREMELY impressive bunch. It was a pleasure to read through the applications. I was floored. You're much, much more accomplished than I was when I applied. Second, it is completely true that in the end so much of this process is random. There are so many outrageously talented applicants we're making wild guesses about who will be a good fit in our program. These guesses are often way off base. If you're feeling dejected at not getting in, I get it. (I got rejected from nearly every program I applied to and I remember the feeling well.) Try to remember that it is NOT a reflection of your self worth, smarts, or ability to succeed. I know that's easier said than done, but I can tell you from the inside, it's true.

Several people on this thread have expressed suicidal thoughts. If you are having these thoughts, it is important that you seek professional psychological attention. If you feel that you are in a state of extreme emotional distress or may be a danger to yourself or others, consider contacting loved ones and/or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255). Developing resilience in the face of rejection or other difficult circumstances will be critical to our lives and our professional success, regardless of whether we ultimately pursue a PhD or not. That starts with developing healthy coping strategies. Please seek help from professionals who can help you to develop those strategies. Mental health comes first. Finally, please know that you are not alone. You are not a failure. Your life is not hopeless, and it is not meaningless.

Seek professional help. That goes for anyone that is expressing significant depression symptoms, and definitely suicidal thoughts.
Your mental health is way more important than god damn grad school applications.
And that goes for people that have received acceptances as well, trust me, get your mental health in order because grad school will destroy you if you are not of a sound mind.

Luckily I am fortunate enough to not care too much. I am in the peculiar situation of having been accepted to one of my reach schools, denied from one of my safety schools, and ghosted from a school in the middle ground. So I am just confused more than anything. So far, the process has made very little sense for me.
