Just DMed you! -
Hi there! Thank you!! I got your PM also; sorry for the delayed response! I interviewed at Pitt in-person this past weekend (cognitive) and the weekend before (developmental and clinical). I'm not sure if other POIs/programs also decided on their acceptances, but my POI (who is in dev and cog) said that the faculty in each program would meet sometime the week after each interview day to discuss applicants. I'm not sure if the clinical faculty work the same, but it's very possible? I hope this helps! Best of luck

Thank you! Congrats to you too! I currently do not know if there is an accepted students day for my program, but I hope to meet you if you do choose Pitt!

Fall 2018 Psych PhD Interviews (not clinical)

Hello! I had an amazing and super fun interview experience last weekend at Kent State! Faculty, current students, and prospective students were super nice and there was never any awkwardness from my interactions with people. I'm sure that this is said at every interview/visiting weekend-these interviews are mostly about how well you mesh/connect with your POI and the department, because the fact that you were invited means that they want you as a student for the most part. We were told that admissions decisions would come out in a couple of weeks , but my POI emailed and said her decision would come a bit sooner. I'm excited to hear from this school! I have three more interviews this weekend and next, and I'm hoping that I have the same incredible experience that I had at Kent. -

Hey! I'll be at Kent for dev psych on Feb 2nd. Kent didn't offer any travel reimbursement when I was first invited to interview weekend, but I just received an email a couple of days ago from my POI informing me that the department could reimburse me for reasonable travel costs up to $400, so it's possible that you'll just hear about getting reimbursed later. -

I'm so excited for all of you guys who have gotten skype interviews and/or interview invites!! Reading about them on this thread really brightens my day I applied to two programs at Pitt (Cognitive and Developmental) to work with two different people. A few weeks ago, I was recommended for interviews for both programs by one POI who is accepting students for either program. I ended up choosing to only attend the interview weekend for the cog program because the dev program interview overlaps with my interview at UMD (Human Dev, College of Education). My POI for the dev program recently reached out to me, informed me that I was short-listed, and invited me to a Skype interview with him, his grad students, post doc, and lab manager. Has anyone been told that they are short-listed? What does this mean? Should I prepare for anything in addition to how I would prep if I were just speaking with my POI? -

Hey, thanks for starting this thread! I applied to four schools for cognitive and/or developmental programs: University of Maryland (not psych dept), Kent State University, University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon. Interviews I've received so far: School: University of Maryland, College Park Track and/or specialization within psychology program: Human Development Department w/ Developmental concentration Interview type: In-Person interview weekend Date: Feb. 15th - 16th Notes: Met with POI in person. Professor I didn't apply to reached out to me and I will be meeting with him during the interview weekend as well. Invited via email on Dec. 21st. School: University of Pittsburgh Track and/or specialization within psychology program: Cognitive, Developmental Interview type: In-Person interview weekend Date: Feb. 16th - 17th (Developmental), Feb 22nd - 23rd (Cognitive) Notes: Contacted via email on Dec. 22nd School: Kent State University Track and/or specialization within psychology program: Cognitive Interview type: In-Person interview weekend Date: Feb. 2nd - 3rd Notes: Spoke with POI via Skype on Dec. 12th and she invited me to the interview weekend. Does anyone know when CMU usually sends out anything?
