  1. I'm so happy that I came across this thread. Seeing the Results tab and hearing about how some of the schools I've applied to have been sending out interviews really hurts. I'm not sure if any of you have experienced this, but it is extremely frustrating/difficult to discuss this with my family members/friends/partner. When I started college I was (in a round about way) a first-generation student with parents who have not attended graduate school. Anytime I bring the topic of my applications up, I'm greeted with a seemingly harmless "I'm sure you'll get in somewhere. You're a great student and need to stop worrying." While I appreciate the optimism, they do not understand that I have a much larger chance of receiving all rejections than one acceptance. You work so hard to achieve a goal, really believe you have what it takes to succeed based on your current qualifications, only to be left feeling so hopeless and unimportant. How do you all stay motivated enough to apply again? Getting my doctorate has been a goal of mine since I was 16 but after this, I don't think I have it in me to do this again. Can anyone else relate? Applications: UT Austin (Counseling Psych); University of Houston (Clinical Psych); University of Louisville (Counseling Psych); Florida International University (Clinical Psych); Clark University (Clinical Psych); Harvard University (Clinical Psych); USC (Clinical Psych) Acceptances: ?/7; Interview Notifications: ?/7; Interviews: ?/7; Rejections: ?/7 (Assumed USC, Harvard, UH)
  2. Anyone who has heard back about the following programs, could you reply with your POI's initial? I've added mine for reference if anyone needs. Greatly appreciated. University of Louisville (Counseling PhD) - KH UT Austin (Counseling PhD) - AR Florida International University (Clinical PhD) - JP Harvard University (Clinical PhD) - JH USC (Clinical PhD) - GM/DS University of Houston (Clinical PhD) - JB/JB Clark University (Clinical PhD) - MA
  3. Hi everyone, So I figured I'd start this thread not to encourage pessimism, but to talk about the realistic possibility of receiving all rejections. I have personally applied to seven Psychology PhD programs with no response (as of January 13th) and I think a forum like this would help those of us, like me, who are facing this anxiety. This is my first round of graduate school applications and I think this could be a beneficial space to maybe hear words of encouragement from those students who went through a rotation without any acceptances? "Everything happens for a reason" is a great quote but not necessarily one someone wants to hear after years of their hard work doesn't get recognized the way it should. I hope whoever joins this conversation can give advice on how to stay motivated, what to do in regards to self care, and address the "what nows?" that have infiltrated our thought process. Again, I really don't want this to come across as pessimistic or too hopeless, rather a realistic approach to this tough process. I wish everyone on here the best of luck in regards to admissions. Applications: UT Austin (Counseling Psych); University of Houston (Clinical Psych); University of Louisville (Counseling Psych); Florida International University (Clinical Psych); Clark University (Clinical Psych); Harvard University (Clinical Psych); USC (Clinical Psych) Acceptances: ?/7; Interview Notifications: 0/7; Interviews: 0/7; Rejections: ?/7
  4. Which programs did you apply to at UT Austin and Clark? I would love the initials of your POI as well if you're comfortable with that. Thanks so much! Congrats on getting interviews.
  5. Would you mind responding with the initials of your POI at University of Houston? Greatly appreciated!
