Wow - to be waitlisted for Vanier is such a huge accomplishment. I don't understand how you weren't at least waitlisted for a doctoral sshrc??!!

Yeah I'm super confused - I thought waitlisted applicants were around 11/12 - so it might be flipped? I would email them.

This year the letter stated that there were 2,048 applicants and roughly 840 spots. So chances are something like less than a quarter get a sshrc!

i was rejected (West Coast) with a score of 10.8 - curious to hear what others who were rejected were ranked!!!

I was just rejected, no waitlist. Devastated

go for it! The scholarships officer hasn't responded yet and i emailed her like 51 minutes ago ...

Hey i'm from Uvic too and I emailed the FGS scholarships officer anyways.... haha

Thanks for this! I am trying to mentally prepare for a rejection and knowing what they might say in advance helps a lot!!

I haven't heard back from SSHRC yet but am curious - does anyone know how successful letters are worded at the beginning? Do they begin with a "we are pleased to inform you..." or a "congratulations..." and what does an unsuccessful letter begin with?

I know. This waiting is crazy. Looking back through several years I think the earliest we could expect results (in the form of early notification directly from our universities) would be hearing back Weds, Thurs or Fri of this week.

Also question to all of you - is it bad form/annoying to email the graduate coordinator a second time with a request for a date of results when the initial date given has passed (twice now)? My other offer deadlines are rapidly approaching.....

Anyone hear anything at all about McGill PhD English? Still no word and PhD's were supposed to hear either way last week...

No I was told last week they would be telling everyone the application results by the end of this week...but still nothing.

I think they did do a process of elimination/ranking type deal, from what I gather...

The Graduate Coordinator at McGill emailed me again today (by mistake I think, since she already responded to my email). She said that often the applications are still listed as "submitted" and not "under review" even though they are actually under review. She said Phd McGill applicants would hear back "soon". Lol. She said that all applications are now under review.

I guess I'm getting pretty desperate for information, but has anyone out in the wider Grad Cafe community heard of any PhD English acceptances to McGill? I'm still waiting on my application decision and am fully going crazy. Ugh I just want this to be over!!!! Good luck to all. May we come out of this sane.

She didn't say anything about MA acceptances - i think she was only talking about PhD!

emailed McGill English and was informed PhD applicants will know results, if they haven't already, by the end of next week.

I know, I'm suuuuper nervous!

Someone was just accepted for Mcgill MA english! Hopefully that means other acceptances will be en route soon...
