Just discovered this forum as well!! I'm not sure if this is helpful or panic-inducing (don't fret if you haven't heard back! I've heard that sometimes they just don't interview and you can get an acceptance without one - unsure if that's accurate, but really hoping that's the case for some of the schools I've applied to and haven't heard back from!!)

My list of places I've applied to:

NYU - PhD Health Policy and Management - haven't heard anything
Harvard - PhD Health Systems (Global Health and Population) - haven't heard anything
Hopkins - PhD Health Systems - interviewed last week with two profs! said they shortlisted 10 ppl for interviews.
University of Toronto - Phd Epi (with Global Health concentration) - interviewed last weekend!
Yale - PhD Health Policy and Management - haven't heard anything (I know interview day is in Feb and not hearing back probably means bad news?  anyone applied to the HPM stream? The ppl that I know who've gotten interviews applied to SBS and Epi.... )
Brown University - Epi - haven't heard back (but I hear prospective student day is on the 25th so no news indicates bad news here?)
Columbia University - Epi - haven't heard back
McGill - Epi - haven't heard back (but they're known for replies very late in the application season)

Congrats to all of you that have heard back and interviewed! And for those who haven't, just a note that you're doing great, that until you get some form of communication from the university, all is not lost - and there's plenty of opportunities to strengthen your application and apply again next year! It's not a race - everything will work out!! Hugs from Canada!

Not sure, but maybe this means multiple PIs were interested in working with you, so they will each contribute to your stipend? Or that you'll be partially funded through the department with the rest made up by specific PIs? UNC is weird about funding sometimes

I'm not Epi, but here's the beginning of the email I got inviting me to interview day:
    Everyone:
As Administrative Director of the Graduate Program for Public Health, I have been asked to invite you to campus for an interview for the PhD program.  You will be working with me and [redacted], administrative assistant for the program, for your travel arrangements to Yale University for our recruitment day on Monday, February 11, 2019.
Both the person who sent the email and the person mentioned in it are part of admissions, and recruitment day is from 8:30am - 9pm. They're reimbursing travel and arranging hotels, so I assuming they want everyone to interview in person. Since there have been posts from SBS and Epi applicants, I'm also assuming this is the only email going out for those programs, and possibly other Yale SPH doctoral programs as well.
Soooo hopefully I'm wrong but I think if you didn't get an email today, it signifies waitlist/rejection.

    Hi everyone,
An update regarding PhD Epi at JHU. I received a Skype interview invitation from two professors whose research interests overlap with mine. The interview was scheduled at the end of Jan.
Also UW Epi admission last week, but no info on funding or transportation for visiting day.

apex45 got a reaction from lincoln.hawks in Will GRE Quant score keep me out of M.P.H. programs?
The schools you picked aren't terribly competitive. Emory is the most competitive of those 3, and even then I don't think your GRE score will be the deciding factor for admission. Health behavior isn't a heavily quantitative field. I wouldn't bother taking them again this late in the application cycle.

Welp, I think it's after 5 on a Friday in the time zones my schools are in.
Would love to know whether people have heard from the following--
    Harvard SBS
    Yale SBS
    Michigan HBHE
Idc if it's over PM, on the Results page, or here-- I'm dying for info. I've heard nothing.
I've been invited to Brown's interview day next week and heard from Minnesota that I've passed the first stage of the application. I've personally heard no news from Pittsburgh but that seems expected based on last years' timelines.

I also applied to BCHS and have not heard anything other than a confirmation that my application was received by Pitt and sent to the department. I spoke to a POI and current student back in the fall, and both indicated that interviews typically take place in early-mid February.

Nope, because I had no idea that program existed. Just looked at their website now-- looks fantastic. If I don't get in anywhere this year, I might send an application next year. Good luck!

Rejected from Emory Epi yesterday, but today received an acceptance email from the University of Washington! Although they state students find their own funding so a bit nervous about that... may start asking around in the next few weeks.
Also received an email from the University of Minnesota saying I passed the first round, and they will attempt to match me to an advisor and funding.

I think a lot of PhD programs actually cover the same coursework people take during a masters- so in that sense, going straight to PhD means you wouldn't be missing out on whatever masters students learn. As for learning the masters skills elsewhere (research job, fellowship, etc) - I think you could learn some, but not all. I think my masters gave me broad background in public health/epi/biostats. I've used/sharpened some of those skills at work, but don't think working would give me the same breadth of knowledge that the masters did. One consideration if you do wind up with debt from a masters and then do a PhD is the NIH loan repayment program: https://www.lrp.nih.gov/  It provides 35k/year for 2 years directly towards your student loans (given that you meet certain criteria)- I absolutely plan to apply for it post-PhD!

Actually I do not understand of my rejection by emory. I come from one of the top schools in China, also have a honor degree towards chemistry. I have three papers accepted, including 2 second authorship and 1 forth authorship, as well as another paper as the first authorship being reviewed by ChemPlusChem. Additionally, I have four every strong ROLs from my professors, including one ROL from a UC Los Angeles professor. All in all, good luck to those who have been admitted by Emory University, enjoy yourself there ! If I had the chance again, I would not apply for Emory again, it is not worthy for me to do this. One of the classic "I am a gift from god screw you guys" responses.

I was contacted by the head the Cancer Epidemiology Program, so I think every program is taking a different time to interview their prospective students. I was also told they do not necessarily interview every student they accept.

Not really-- I reached out a couple days ago and was told that recruitment day (interviews) will be Jan 25 and that all candidates being considered for admission will be invited (so no invite = rejected). They wouldn't say when invites were coming out but it looks like maybe tomorrow or early next week based on the results page?

Got an interview for PhD in Population Science at Harvard (Cancer Epi). Does anyone know if they interview every prospective student or should I be celebrating....at least a bit?
Also any tips to prepare for the interview?

Has anyone heard yet from Brown regarding interviews? Based on previous years it looks like invites should be out very soon.

I know Brown has a doctoral day to interview candidates from all programs, and I am 90% sure Harvard interviews as well. Not sure about the others.
