  1. My GPA was around 3.3, GRE scores less than average, but I was accepted into two programs. What helps your application are your experiences and strong recommendations. That is what helped me get into programs the second time around (I applied in 2018 and didn't get in anywhere).
  2. UPDATE: Hi everyone! I applied to programs for the second time last fall. I was accepted into 2 programs! I'm currently in my first term at Speech@Baylor's online graduate program Anything is possible, guys! Some encouragement for everyone. A B-student can get into grad school.
  3. Hi! I also had experience in special education when I was accepted into graduate school. I was a B student (with a few A's). I was accepted my second time applying. I improved on my GRE scores, rewrote my personal statements, and had different recommenders (except for one professor who wrote me a letter the first time). My CSD GPA was a 3.3, last 2 years was a 3.6 so I made sure to highlight that in my essays. Also redid my resume. I'm not sure if having a SPED background alone could outweigh your grades. There's other considerations too in your application (as I mentioned above). I was accepted into Baylor University, which from what I heard is a hard program to get into. I'm saying that anything is possible. If speech is your passion, continue on that path and make your application as awesome as possible. Hope this helps!
  4. I applied in December before Christmas break and received an acceptance the first week of January. Maybe 10-15 days.
  5. I just saw your reply! Thanks for the encouragement! I've been reviewing for the GRE since January. I'm scheduled to take in at the end of May. Despite what's going on regarding COVID19, I hope I can still take it. I honestly would rather not take it at home lol.
  6. I need some advice about retaking the GRE. I was hoping to be accepted and not need to retake it, but that did not work out. I was frustrated with my testing experience. I prepped as much as I could for several months before the test despite dealing with personal issues and being a caregiver to a relative at home who passed away last fall. My Verbal score was 141, Quant 142 and AW 3.0. Note, that was my first attempt at taking the test. When I took the verbal section, I remember accidentally skipping at least 5 questions and could not go back to finish them. ? I studied from the ETS books but I took the test feeling unprepared with how difficult it actually was. Is Magoosh really as beneficial as a lot of people made it out to be? I'm kind of stumped as to how to study for it again. Any advice would be amazing! Thanks
  7. I think it cost me no more than $400-500. I got the discount waiver for the GRE, CSDCAS reduction waiver, so I save around $200, thank God. The application fees were around $50-80 and I applied to 6 programs. Some required a CSDCAS fee and a fee from the university. Seeing as I didn't get into a program this time, I'll be spending more money next cycle ?
  8. I applied for SLP graduate programs and was not successful with being offered admission. I was waitlisted at one school but received an email stating their cohort was full. I'm disappointed ? Perhaps it's a good thing. There is a lot going on in my personal life right now. I don't have stellar grades and I did awful on the GRE (I hate the idea of retaking it-I studied a lot the first time!) Some words of encouragement and positivity would be lovely ❤️
  9. Has anyone rejected their admission to Midwestern University Glendale campus? I'm on their waitlist ?
  10. Thanks! That's good to hear. Coincidentally, I'm moving out to the Phoenix area with my mother around or after Memorial Day. We had to sell our house due to financial reasons. California is so expensive ?
  11. Update! I called admissions and they told me I'm still on the interview waitlist I hope I'll be contacted next month. Received an email about contacting individuals on the waitlist for interviews if there are spots left in Mid-April. #positivethoughts
  12. I'm waiting to hear from Glendale for an interview. I'm still considered waitlisted for one. Hoping everything will come together
  13. I called the school to inquire and I've been rejected ?
  14. I did and I was told the admissions committee is still reviewing applicants and will send out final invitations sometime over the next few weeks.
  15. ? It's nerve wracking!
