Seems like there's some conflicting information coming out? I was told last week by Dr. Streete that final announcements would be made by the end of this week...
-
No worries! It really wasn't high on my list. I'm waiting to hear back from:
Yale — Joint AMST & AfAM
NYU — AMST
Harvard - AfAm
Penn — Africana
Berkeley — AfAm
Northwestern — AfAm
USCD - Ethnic Studies

Well, congrats to @ExileFromAFutureTime and the other mystery admit!
I've been surprised at the teeny cohort sizes everywhere! I'm currently in a culture studies MA program, and my cohort (combined MA/PhD since we do coursework together) is 12, 9 of which are doctoral... 6 is so small, particularly considering Mich (and UT!) are much larger schools.
Relatedly, spoke with the director of Purdue's AMST program and he said this year's cohort is five students.

Just saw two posts about interviews for NYU AMST in the results -- is that anyone here? Also, does anyone have any insight as to whether interviews are standard for their process/conducted for certain applicants last year?

Forgot to post but was rejected from Brown Africana Studies last week...honestly didn't have high hopes in the first place bc there wasn't much of a fit between my research & faculty research.

Hmm...I'm wondering if it as set out to all minority candidates or all accepted minority candidates? I've seen other threads where people mentioned receiving the e-mail but no two people from the same discipline so far.

@Englishtea1 I'm freaking out about it, I have no idea what it means!!!
@Karou Of course! It's happening on Wednesday at 3 so I'll post here then.

Did anyone else in this thread get an e-mail about a Yale webinar this week?

I got my first acceptance from Purdue American Studies this morning! It was my backup program but I'm still super excited/can't believe it's real

@MindOverMatter It's okay! I like to thing these things happen for a reason. And no -- I submitted an application to a digital humanities fellowship as well, so I'm still waiting on that to fill the time for my gap year! I'll be applying to PhD programs this fall, just not at Pitt.

I had to call and e-mail a lot, and just found out I was rejected after a phone call from the Director of Graduate Studies ?
-
That's very helpful, thank you! The whole thing is frustrating because the HMB director is hard to get in touch with :/

Thanks for the update. I received notification too and didn't get it either ? I asked for a status update last week. I know there are two rounds - one review by the director, then the department. My app was forwarded to the department (also psych) but ultimately, didn't work out. Sigh.
@rx971 - notification was via e-mail. Maybe your department has not finalized decisions yet.
One last question, if I may -- was your notification by the department, or from the program director?

Agreed! Maybe it is good news at this rate since you did not receive rejection yet. Good luck!
Let's hope so!!!

@MindOverMatter Thanks for the info! I tried calling the office twice and sent a message through the app platform but didn't get a response. The waiting is always the hardest part ?

I'm sorry to hear that :( I applied to Econ and have yet to hear back as well. Did you get a response by e-mail or on the application platform?

Has anyone gotten any new updates on Yale ESI Prep? My application is for a humanities discipline but this is the only thread on GC talking about it ?
