  1. Congrats on your acceptance! I'm a current grad student at Princeton. Princeton only guarantees five years of funding, but there are many funding opportunities for year 6 and beyond. Info on the Centennial Fellowship can be found here https://gradschool.princeton.edu/costs-funding/definitions Fellowships given outside of the English Dept. typically mean more money added to your base stipend.
  2. Hello, everyone! I'm writing to wish you all the best of luck this application cycle! I'm happy to answer any questions via the forum or pm about my current program and the application process in general.
  3. I heard that they’ll be updating the portals very soon. My acceptance came via the portal and then I received an email from a faculty member. Also, the event was awesome. Had one-on-ones with faculty and met many grad students. My experience def. didn't come across as an interview. With the faculty I met, it was more of an opportunity for me to ask them questions about the program.
  4. In at Northeastern! I was one of the people who attended the pre-admission welcome event.
  5. I can't stand the health insurance calls...Calling from all the states in which I applied to programs!
  6. I haven't yet...My guess is that they're still figuring out funding.
  7. @dangermouse LOL yea I did! I guess all bets are off as far as work hours are concerned.
  8. In at UNC Chapel Hill! Received a nice, very personalized email from the DGS. Look out for those acceptances if you applied!
  9. Question! Have any of you been able to negotiate your funding offers? If so, how did you go about doing this?
  10. @trytostay Thanks! It still feels surreal. And congrats on your acceptances as well. Like everyone on this forum, we do everything we can to prepare for these app cycles, and there's never any knowing how it they will turn out.
  11. Hey all... Just received a phone call from the DGS at U of Delaware! I've been admitted, and it seems they're sending out their acceptances today. It's been quite the cycle for me. 9a/3r/many more pending
  12. They're joking and gaming with these imaginary deadlines we've given them.
  13. Apparently CUNY Grad Center is still sending acceptances! I received mine today. There's still hope, people.
  14. I've been able to keep it together up to this point! Officially in freakout mode!
  15. No my application portal has not updated! and thanks!!!!!
  16. Hey y'all! First thing this morning I checked my inbox and was surprised to find an acceptance from U of Michigan! I posted the result. For those who applied be on the lookout as I guess acceptances are going out today.
  17. I received an email from the POIs and the grad school. The portal has also updated on my end. It might be helpful to know that the department just received a grant for an initiative focused on transatlantic/Caribbean literature, which may account for why they’re taking in so many applicants whose specialty is in that field.
  18. The thing with these schools is it really is a toss-up and there are so many factors that come into play when accepting applicants. However, I think dept. fit plays more of a role than I initially thought. I’ve been rejected from smaller programs but accepted to UCLA (and my GRE subject score is trash) and when I look back at the programs I was rejected from it seems that they were really a stretch regarding fit. Here’s to hoping that we all get into programs that are best suited for the growth of our projects!
