Thank you! I'm speechless! It was the SSHRC Doctoral fellowship, I can't hold the CGS because I'm abroad

I'm thinking if we made a bet, whoever came up with friday as the release date, would have won that bet. *Sigh* oh well.

I just heard from my supervisor, she said our department hasn't heard anything from SSHRC yet.
best wishes to everyone!

Wasn't trying to start a debate lol. Considering last year was the first and only time they've distributed results electronically, and many mentioned that the result of that was somewhat messy, I was merely trying to suggest that it's possible that they've had time to streamline the process of releasing the results, and that they might do so a few days sooner in April, as their Twitter page was somewhat vague about it. Like you said, in other years the letters were dated in April even if it took longer for some to receive them physically than others, so overall we are probably comparing very minor differences here, if any. Good luck to you

Is it naively hopeful that a year into covid and the new extranet system that they'd have their stuff together enough to be a little more timely? You're probably right that we won't be seeing anything come in until the end of this week / early next week, but you never know!

Yeah, I think NSERC results were supposed to be released mid-April but there were Technical Difficulties so they delayed until end of April.
I'm still holding out hope for this week because of the SSHRC tweet that said doctoral results will be in by end of April. This week has already been terrible so this is the one thing keeping me going lol.

Thank you for the replies everyone! Even though the suspense is unbearable, it helps knowing I'm not alone in this?

So painful, I'm concerned that extranet logins haven't gone out yet-based off of NSERC's timeline that means we're waiting until early May ?

GradSkewlHopeful reacted to Warelin in Typo in Email to Graduate Coordinator
This will not be a factor in your admissions decision. You will be judged by your previous coursework, your writing sample, your SOP and how well of a fit they believe you'd be to the department. They don't have time to analyze every typo every single student has had when corresponding with a school. Likewise, it's highly unlikely that any admissions coordinator would share all her e-mails with the admissions committee.

GradSkewlHopeful reacted to Warelin in Television / American / Cultural Studies Program Recommendations?
There are a few programs that come to mind that might be a good starting point for you to look into:
1. University of Pittsburgh's Film and Media Studies PhD with English as the associated department. Alternatively, you might consider their PhD in Critical and Cultural Studies.
2. Brown University's Modern Culture and Media PhD
3. WUSTL's English PhD with a certificate in American Studies
4. Michigan's Film, Television and Media PhD
