  1. I am in the process of applying to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign's iMSW program. It is a hybrid program, so a few classes will meet twice or so a month. But I really liked how it made it possible to work full-time while studying part-time. It also is more cost effective for me as I am in-state.
  2. I only applied to UIC since for me it was the most affordable in the area. Looking back, Northeastern and Governor's State may be cheaper, but I think UIC offers a more quality education. It is also significantly cheaper than the private programs around. Just out of curiosity, why $80k? Does that include undergrad loans? I am hoping to take out $34k at most for tuition and fees and work alongside school and internship to pay for living expenses, but we will see.
  3. I applied around January 22 for one placement I was recommended, and after 20 or so days of no response, I told my field liaison. Apparently, the person at the organization had replied incorrectly via email so it had not gotten to me. But with a few days of my liaison reaching out, I had a phone interview. I also applied to the second recommended site and got a call right away, and a phone interview a week later. I haven't heard back from the first place (so I am taking it as a rejection), but I was given an offer to intern at the second place. If it helps, I am out of the country. So if the process was pretty fast for me, it shouldn't be too bad for you hopefully! But on another note, I received my financial aid letter and was only offered loans (which I was expecting). It kind of makes me rethink this whole thing! It's daunting to be tied down to those loans for a while. Is anyone else getting cold feet?
  4. I think it is possible to complete it in three weeks! I registered in late November, but really sat down to study/take notes off the study guide provided during winter break. I was able to take the practice test and the first test and luckily scored well enough to pass. I didn't take a statistics course in undergrad and still passed, if it is any comfort. Good luck! I will see you around UIC!
  5. Hopefully your school accepts it! Here's a link: https://admin.abcsignup.com/files/354BC685-6A42-D655-C6D5-A64641135889_15/9136/PrerequisiteFAQ.pdf It also has a list of schools of the visiting students. Maybe yours will be on there. Even if not, it's worth a shot to ask your school.
  6. I was in this situation, too. I applied in mid September to my school (UIC). However, a few days later, I left for Spain to teach for the year. I emailed their MSW admissions letting them know it wasn’t possible to take a class at my local CC, not even online as tests required you to be on campus. UIC admissions suggested I look into University of Louisville’s online statistic class (it’s offered for “visiting” MSW students). You have a study guide, practice test (optional), and two tests. You only need to take one test, and if you get a 70% or above you pass the course. If you get below, you get another shot. The course fee is $225, textbook isn’t required. UIC accepts this, ask your school if they do as well!
  7. Thank you! It is actually my only choice. I went to UIC for my undergrad. Also, I live close and it is more affordable than other schools in the area, so it is my first (and only) choice haha. I am pretty sure I will be attending next year, but I am still considering my options as it's a big choice to make (and still costly). I see you applied to a few schools. What schools are you leaning towards?
  8. I applied back in September to UIC for an MSW. I was accepted in November!
  9. I applied in early September to the University of Illinois at Chicago (only school). I was accepted in early November. If anyone else is waiting, I received an email with my decision and I’m in-state if that has any effect.
