  1. HAHAHA that is basically half my posts on here ?
  2. Yeah, I think we all deserve peace of mind! Rejection is definitely better than waiting in limbo
  3. Can't believe I have something to post!! Had all but given in to defeat ? School: Oklahoma State University Type: Clinical Child Psych PhD Date of invite: 01/07/2020 Type of invite: Email from director, POI LC Interview date(s): 2/1 The school had forgotten to email me my invite ?‍♀️ so glad I reached out!
  4. They just straight up forgot about me ?‍♀️ wasn't given an invite, wasn't given a rejection or an alternate notification. LOL the coordinator seemed dumbfounded that could even happen. This is by far the most complicated way I'll get rejected this year
  5. I'm in this weird limbo space with one of my programs right now. Interview invites already went out, and so did alternate and rejection notifications, but I never received anything. I just called and they see me in the system, rated by the faculty, but I'm not on any of the final lists. Aaaggghhhhh! I just want to know for sure. Just give me my rejection, don't give me hope!
  6. If the OK State poster who posted about a rejection sees this, could you DM me? I don't see a change in the status of my application and am confused. I also didn't receive an interview invite so I'm pretty sure I'm rejected, just wondering where my rejection letter is ?Thanks!
  7. Could you post this in the general thread rather than the interview thread? There is an interview advice thread as well. I know people are getting frustrated with the amount of non-interview related Q's on this thread ?
  8. I also did this! I noted the dates in my excel spreadsheet. Even though I know the remainder of schools won't be sending out anything for two or so weeks, doesn't stop me from compulsively checking my email and GradCafe for any news ? the waiting game is seriously killing me. I just want to know if I need to reapply or not!
  9. Hi everyone! I received my first rejection this week but was fortunate enough to get some feedback from the POI I applied to. One piece of advice I was given was to increase my first author papers and presentations, as well as present at international/national conferences. The labs I'm in right now are in the middle of data collection, and I've already used some data to create posters for a regional conference. I'm not sure that the labs will be publishing any papers before the next cycle. I'm worried about how to generate research output before I have to reapply if needed. So my question is, for those of you who have insane CV's with multiple first author pubs, how did you do it? If your lab wasn't producing, how did you manage to write independent papers with existing data or conduct literature reviews? I'll also ask my research mentors but would love feedback from y'all as well! Thanks.
  10. OMG you are a lifesaver! Was debating whether or not to reach out to the coordinator. Totally assumed rejection from that program already. Chances to get in are still super slim, but hey! A sliver of hope! LOL
  11. In case you meant Oklahoma not Ohio, their invite deadline was December 23rd, so I'm assuming that all invites have been extended for that program.
  12. People who post their stats and POI on the results page, y'all the real MVP's! I appreciate you!
  13. This has already been brought up by someone else, and the consensus was essentially that people do DM when they post on this thread (usually) and ask for POI when they saw something on the results page. There are always going to be a select few people who don't follow this unfortunately which makes for a bunch of unrelated notifications. It's for sure a flawed system! Just like PhD applications ?
  14. Me too. I'm mentally preparing for a third cycle. Better to be pleasantly surprised instead of utterly disappointed! My hopes are not high at all, lol. Hang in there! We've done all we can do with our applications, it's out of our hands for the moment.
  15. Welp, got my first official rejection today! I suspect 3 more are coming my way as well. There is something oddly comforting about it being official, no more uncertainty! Woo!
  16. I've already asked this, so sorry to be redundant, but has anyone heard back from University of Oregon for clinical psych? I haven't seen anything on the results page for clinical and they are usually one of the first to send out invites. Sort of assuming rejection from them...for the second time ?
  17. I love that! One of my favorites is "Nothing to it but to do it". Reminds me to just keep chugging along, don't get too caught up in my own head, and any movement is better than no movement. I hope 2020 has some amazing things in store for us all!
  18. Yeah, two of my lowest ranked schools already sent out interview invites. It's tough to not feel completely unqualified now, lol.
  19. Anyone else having a hard time staying positive?? I feel like I'm putting so much energy into convincing myself that there is still plenty of time to hear back from schools and I am worthy of an interview (at least) but I don't believe myself lol. The uncertainty and variability of the process are difficult to handle! My impatience is my far my most annoying quality ?
  20. Welp, the holiday distraction is over and I'm back to being a ball of stress lol. Hope everyone had a chance to relax if you had time off!
  21. Me too! Definitely stinks. Was super excited about that program!
  22. I'm in the same boat as you, but it's my second cycle and I was feeling super confident going into this round after beefing up my apps. Very hard to be patient and not totally catastrophize the entire situation lol. I'm finding myself mentally prepping to apply again...even though I haven't been officially rejected from anywhere ?
  23. Not all posters from the results page post their invites here sooo actually you can't always direct message them yourself ?
  24. I'm in the same boat...both of the lower ranked programs I applied to already sent out interview notifications and I did not receive one. It's disheartening for sure, especially after beefing up my application since last cycle. Trying to stay positive but it is tough! Hang in there and try to stay positive until you hear for sure rejections from programs! (though I can't seem to take my own advice ?)
