  1. They finished sending out invites a long time ago, the interview is this weekend. No official rejections have gone out yet.
  2. I still think its a big number, because the number of applications in general to this program (and most I applied to) are around 250 - 350. So, the chunk of applications going to the specific lab I applied to is an insane percentage. Of course there will be wildly unqualified applicants, but the likelihood of standing out is still fairly small.
  3. Wow, really up to 10 in-person interviews for one slot is typical? That seems super high. I've always heard 3 - 6. 10 makes me nervous lol
  4. WOW you guys, I just found out that one of my POI's received over 200 applications from students wanting to work in her lab. That is absolute insanity!! It is also a good reminder that sometimes the statistical odds are just plain stacked against you. I was feeling super down about this program but now I completely understand - to stand out in a sea of 200 other qualified applicants has to be near impossible, and I'm just not at that level. It's really helping me be more realistic and objective about the entire process.
  5. Thanks for the input! Unfortunately I have a lot of tattoos that I don't want to show at the interview weekend so I'll need to keep the cardigan on, but maybe I'll try to bring a more structured cardigan in case I feel it's too casual. I was between two different sweaters but one is fitted and the other is fairly large and cozy, so I'll be sure to wear the fitted option. I appreciate the help!
  6. Alright, I'm starting to stress about my wardrobe for non-interview related activities. The day before the interview, I'll be traveling and then will go on a tour of the town and the school. I'm thinking of wearing black jeans with a blouse and chunky cardigan for warmth, but am worried a chunky cardigan may be too casual. Thoughts? Also, where does a sweater fall on the spectrum of casual - business casual - formal? I don't have too many "in between" clothes and would prefer to not buy anything else, but don't want to be underdressed.
  7. Hahaha that gave me a good chuckle
  8. DU's notification deadline was Monday and people posted about interviews awhile ago.
  9. People keep asking about DU ? their notification deadline was Monday and people have posted about interviews from a few different POIs which are listed on the results page.
  10. Agreed, casting a wide net is not necessarily a better option. POIs can tell when you lack direction and purpose, and want someone who fits well with what they are doing because they love that discipline, not because you are willy-nilly trying to force yourself to fit ya know? It's also possible to find a new niche within their research, if it's something they are interested in. POIs love when students bring in relevant, new ideas.
  11. I never realized other programs were any different! Very interesting. But yes, information about what the degree preps you for should be easily available (you would hope)
  12. Not true - I went to a clinical psychology MS program and my program (San Jose State University) prepared us for MFT licensure. CSU Fullerton also has a clinical psychology master's program that leads to licensure.
  13. 100% agree with this - don't force it to happen this round. It's okay to take a step back and re-evaluate how to strengthen your application for next year. Also, fit is so crucial for clinical psychology programs. The likelihood that you would find another program that fits this late in the round is low. This is my second round, I might have to do a third round. It's just the nature of the competitive process.
  14. University of Denver's interview invitation deadline was 1/20
  15. 28 year old here! Turning 29 this year. If i have to reapply, that means I might be 30 when I start a PhD program. That gave me a lot of anxiety at first, but I'm going to age anyways. I would rather age doing something fulfilling and meaningful. It does suck to feel like I'm getting a late start on my career, but timing doesn't matter as much as just doing the thing! Can I ask why you would spend time getting another master's degree?
  16. This is from last year, here is the current thread:
  17. People have posted about DU PsyD on the results page
  18. Hmm those are worded a bit weird. To me, "How do you think about research?" would mean what do I hope research accomplishes. What does research mean to me? Who are you hoping to serve? Buuut that one is very strangely worded and I could be interpreting it way wrong. "How do you work within a system" seems to assess your understanding of academic and research systems. For instance, working within the government sector system will have it's own set of rules and bureaucracy. It could also be asking about your ability to be a team player, to work within a lab, and to function in the larger context of the program and university. But yeah, those are tough. Hope this is helpful, they are very open to interpretation!
  19. Here is the results page: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php You can search from there. I have seen that people received invites from CU Boulder and Utah. I know UO's invites have already gone out. I would search the results page for the others.
  20. It does feel like all these internet friends understand me more than anyone else does these days! Psychology PhD applications are such a specific experience, having camaraderie through the stress has been amazing. I'm also grateful I can turn to this forum whenever I am doubting or pissed off or struggling to stay positive. Y'all the real MVPs!
  21. I've gotta say, it's been a surreal experience watching all of my program prospects slowly die before me. Just got word of the last program I was waiting for, and it was a rejection. Trying to remind myself whatever will be, will be. I have one interview, I will do the absolute best I can, and if it's the right fit it will work out. All it takes is one interview and one acceptance!
  22. This was from the Dev Psych/DPCS program I'm assuming. I got my rejection from that program this afternoon too.
  23. Just remember, more interviews does not necessarily mean more acceptances, or an acceptance at all. It's really fruitless to compare yourself to other applicants.
  24. I'm nervous about UMN because on past years it seems the acceptances have all gone out on the same day ? I tried calling the admin department but it went to voicemail so I guess I'll just have to be patient?? Ugh I hate being patient ?
  25. Those of you who recommended Torrid for dress pants, ILY. Found a killer pair of great fitting ankle slacks and they were ON SALE for $20!! Win!
