  1. I don't need a travel buddy, but for folks flying into Stillwater for OK State it sounds like there are only two flights in and out. So, i'd imagine the probability of seeing each other on the flight is high! If you see a blonde woman with short hair looking frazzled and anxious and furiously reading psych articles, it's probably me ?‍♀️
  2. Agreed. There isn't much of a record on GradCafe, and their website is sort of hard to use. They don't have it set up like traditional program sites, no FAQs. One thing I hate about Dev is they don't provide student admissions data!
  3. It sort of does cause you have to be accepted by both programs. Yikes. When I applied I didn't realize they were number one in the nation for developmental sooo I don't feel great about my chances haha
  4. That is a genius idea. Especially since I'll be traveling for 6 - 7 hours!
  5. University of Minnesota! Technically the developmental psychopathology and clinical science program. And it's a bit terrifying because they don't conduct interviews - just straight up acceptance or rejection.
  6. The one developmental program I applied to probably won't send anything out until the end of next week or after...but I really wish they would be ahead of schedule and give me the news already!
  7. I think so, I was planning on wearing dark jeans with a grey sweater and boots when I fly in. Probably not yoga pants or anything though...although wearing jeans on a plane sounds awful lol
  8. All of these timelines given by programs are so frustrating..."in the next few weeks" blah blah blah I need a specific day and time, programs! Down to the second, dang it! /s
  9. I have another question for folks about patterns. I love plaid and tweed, and while I wouldn't go for a tweed suit, what do you think about black slacks, a cream colored shirt, and a patterned blazer? I'm really leaning away from a plain jane black or navy suit. It just isn't my style. BUT I'm worried about being "too much". The blazer I love is a nice green color with black and cream.
  10. I have to assume jeans of any kinds would be a solid no-no, regardless of concentration, same with t-shirts. I would still think you'd want to wear slacks of some kind and maybe a sweater but more likely a dress shirt.
  11. I agree, I think it would be far worse to be underdressed. That's just a personal nightmare of mine, though. You won't get marked down for wearing a suit when no one else is, but it might be frowned upon if you are underdressed
  12. The one interview I've gotten specifically said to wear suits.
  13. I'm brining a carry-on suitcase! Not weird at all.
  14. Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. What a nightmare! Could you reach out to the program or your POI to tell them what happened? That seems super unfair they wouldn't get your application after all that work.
  15. Gosh I feel this so hard. Went to try on suits yesterday and almost had a nervous breakdown, lol. I'm not sure what about them is unflattering for you, but I struggle because I have a larger chest (and am just a bit larger in general everywhere these days haha) but I found that collarless blazers or open front blazers are much more flattering on me. I know it's also appropriate to wear a professional dress with a blazer or something like that.
  16. I've thought about this too, and I really think for something like PhD interviews they aren't giving preference (intentional or not) depending on the interview weekend. I'm pretty sure they rate applicants as they go, so your rating would be the same regardless of which weekend you attend. But who knows!
  17. Yeah I'm envious, but after buying one plane ticket and almost having a stroke at the price, maybeee not that envious ?
  18. I contacted the program coordinator by phone - BUT I only did this because they had sent out rejections, interview invites, and waitlist notifications. I think it's still okay to call and ask where the department is currently at in terms of the process, though. I prefer phone to email for this stuff. Not pushy at all - this is our life hanging in the balance, yo
  19. Yeah I was confused too, I wanted to reach out for my own peace of mind. I contacted the coordinator, Lori. Not sure who the other person heard from.
  20. Just another update on University of Oregon for anyone waiting - I emailed the grad coordinator who said all initial invites have gone out, but there may be additional interviews in February. Why do they always give you hope ?
  21. Thanks for the info! Someone posted on here that they reached out to the department and the clinical invites are supposed to go out by Friday ? they are running way behind this year
  22. Yeahhhh, if the University of Oregon could send out their invites that'd be greaaatttt, thanks
  23. I'll also chime in to say I called the number listed for one of my schools. I don't know that all programs will be responsive over the phone but it might be worth a shot!
  24. I love all the applicant empowerment happening this round ? Last round, I was only formally rejected from one school. None of the others even bothered to send me anything. WTF?!
