  1. Thank you! Good luck on your interview as well. I didn’t even think to check that out before the interviews, what a good idea! ?
  2. Wow amazing!! Thank you so much ?
  3. WUSTL and UMass!!!
  4. Me too! All of my imposter syndrome is running rampant at the moment. We just have to remind ourselves we worked really hard to get here. I am sure you will do well and I am sending you good vibes!
  5. Congrats!!! I hope your interview goes well!!! I also just got two invites for informal Skype interviews next week and I am super stressed. One of them is for my dream school, so on one hand I am super excited but on the other hand I am afraid to do something wrong to jeopardize it. ?
  6. Oh wow seems like you and I have some overlap in our schools. Would you care to share which POIs you are interested in at UChicago, UCSB, and Boulder? Are you also interested in affective and social neuroscience? Yeah I got flat out rejected last year from 7 programs which was incredibly disappointing. There is so much that goes into getting accepted. It’s important to not get discouraged and to always pick yourself back up and improve yourself. I learned so much from my first round of rejections.
  7. Fingers crossed for you! Where did you apply?
  8. I am glad it went through. I am still waiting on two of my apps to update my GRE scores but at least I got confirmation emails from the department they were received ?! Traveling is a great idea! I am just trying to keep busy at work by taking on more projects but I am still finding myself refreshing my email 100 times a day ?.
  9. I’m sure you are far more competitive now! What is your area of interest?
  10. I totally agree with you. Did you apply last year as well? How many places did you apply to this time?
  11. Fingers crossed for your last app! Good luck with all of them. Now comes the most frustrating part of applying... the waiting game. How does everyone plan on keeping busy while waiting?
  12. The deadline really depends on the school, but I would aim for before 23:59 EST. I also wouldn’t wait until the last minute because anything could happen, like the website going down because of high traffic. Regarding recommendation letters, I think there are a few days post deadline grace period most schools give because they understand it’s sort of out of the applicant’s hands.
  13. Thanks for all of the information. I am applying to the Social Psychology department at U of T. I might be mistaken, but from what I saw with the OGS in order to apply as an international applicant I need to input my student visa number. Do you know if I can apply before I have one? I asked someone at U of T if I could apply to merit-based scholarships based on my undergraduate GPA and she said the department considers students for these scholarships independently and apply Damon the behalf of the students. Do you know of any databases available that detail funding sources for Canadian institutions?
  14. I submitted five applications and have two left to complete. It is so relieving to be almost done with applications! I hope everyone else is having a productive time during this stressful period before all of the deadlines. I wish us all good luck ? and hope we all get admitted to our dream schools ??!!
  15. Hey everyone, I am applying to a graduate program in Toronto and I am an international student. I know that to be considered a competitive applicant I should apply to outside funding. I have been having trouble finding funding which applies to someone in my situation as I am neither a resident nor citizen. I have also noticed that several applications are somewhat of catch 22s for international students as they want you to be enrolled or to have a student visa, yet most schools won’t admit an international student without some additional funding. Does anyone have any advice of where to look for funding? Or better yet, does anyone know of specific funds I might qualify for? Thank you all ?
  16. Oh alright. Do you have any mentors in mind already? Have you also considered looking for RA jobs? I think a big part of any strong psychology application is research experience. You can gain experience in a masters but it may also be possible by working in a lab for some time and building up your resume that way as well.
  17. Which subfield in psychology are you interested in applying to (e.g. clinical, developmental, cognitive)? I know several faculties in cognitive/neuroscience are very interested in computer scientists because their skills are relevant to computational neuroscience research.
  18. I’d be happy to trade as well
  19. I actually can’t see your signature for some reason, maybe because I’m on my phone. Anyway, yeah last year was incredibly disappointing but I think it actually taught me a lot about the process. I am sure my applications have vastly improved since then and I have learned to be easier on myself. You are wise for prioritizing mental health over all else. My finalized list includes: UNC, UCSB, UVA, U of T, UCB, UMass Amherst, and UChicago.
  20. Yeah I am also panicking a bit as well. This process has got to be the most stressful experience of my life. Which places are you applying to in the end?
  21. I am currently working on the final drafts of my statements. What about everyone else?
  22. I think I got really unlucky, one of the programs I applied to last year actually closed and didn’t take any students. One of my POIs got very ill last year and didn’t take students. One didn’t have funding for international students. It was super disappointing and the faculty from my alma mater was shocked that I didn’t get accepted last cycle. Anyway I recommend applying to several schools.
  23. So I am also not “technically” Canadian (long story) but my POI was unable to fund me because of it and ultimately was unable to admit me. This year I was advised to seek out my own funding if I aim to reapply and be admitted in Canada.
  24. Who are your POIs at UNC and NYU?
