  1. Happy birthday!!!!
  2. I’m sure some of you have seen the CV of Failures, but I wanted to share it anyway because it reminds me that a rejection isn’t the end of the line for us. Even if we don’t get accepted this time around, it doesn’t mean that we won’t make it eventually. I know it’s far too early to know the status of our applications, but a lot of us are anxiously anticipating results knowing that there is a slim probability we will be the lucky ones selected by the adcomms. So I just wanted to share this as inspiration for all of us that the road to success is paved with some failure along the way. https://www.princeton.edu/~joha/Johannes_Haushofer_CV_of_Failures.pdf
  3. You definitely have a unique experience which I am sure has come through your SOP. I think taking some time off from school and coming back let’s you know what you really want to do. I think you are going about this witch the right mindset. Love your doggos ❤️.
  4. Those sound delicious!!! What exactly is a cookie exchange and how does one go about getting an invite ??
  5. Yeah that thought has crossed my mind as well and also considering applying in the country I am in now to improve my odds. Applying is such a stressful process, I thought once I had submitted it would be over but alas it has only gotten worse ?. What are you baking? I made cookies this morning but my husband hates sugar so they were more like oatmeal biscuits ??. Fur babies are the everything ?.
  6. ??? they look like they want a new sibling ❤️❤️❤️
  7. This would be me if I wasn’t moving countries! For now I just have one rescue kitty and luckily cats are much easier to import than dogs. What type of fur babies do you have?
  8. Same here!!! ?‍♀️ I can’t stop refreshing, even though I know there is almost no chance that I received any updates just yet ?. I have just started reading Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky and I have a few studies I am trying to finish working on. I am open to any suggestions on what to binge watch next ?.
  9. I am applying to social programs but also applied to the Psychology of Peace and Violence program at UMass Amherst. Which POIs did you select?
  10. Haha I’ll take even just one ☝️
  11. Thank you so much ?
  12. Good luck to you too
  13. When do you think we will hear from schools? Where is a good place to figure out this info?
  14. Haha ? this speaks to my soul ?
  15. Actually, I have a surprising amount of free time because my jobs in the lab are classified as part time so I can’t work over ~10 hours per project per week. I think the hard part is just mentally organizing and prioritizing what is important in the limited time I am actually at work. I would say it depends how different the topics are and what type of experience you are getting from working on the project. I think as a pregrad student nobody expects you to be specialized and having a wide range of research skills may be more attractive to a future POI than having less experience. I know that professors I sent my resume to were rather impressed with the breadth of experience I have coming out of undergrad and didn’t seem to be worried that some of research experience is strictly cognitive (i.e. attention research) when I am applying to social psych programs. Good luck ?!
  16. Which programs did you apply to?
  17. Hey so has anyone here in the social department heard anything back yet about their apps? The clinical and developmental people in the other forums are starting to make me so nervous ?.
  18. Hey I also applied to University of Oregon. Who are your POIs? Mine are Saucier and Hodges. What are your research interests?
  19. Wow congrats!! That is my dream school!! Which program did you apply to? Developmental? I applied to Social.
  20. Which program did you apply to?
  21. I would say it depends on how well you can juggle multiple projects. I currently work in three different labs. I am running a research project in each lab (3 in total) and also supervise about 10 other students who are working on their own projects. These projects are my primary job (which I supplement with private tutoring to help pay all of my bills). I will say that it is hard to juggle everything and I do find that one of my research projects is suffering because of my need to prioritze other things over it. I would say it also depends on what types of projects you are working on. One of my projects requires psychophysiological data, so it is very time consuming and the other two are cognitive studies which have to be done in the lab, so they also take much more time than a survey. If both of your projects are surveys, I’d say it would be really doable. So it really depends on several factors. I do think that gaining as much experience as you can will ultimately benefit you.
  22. Congrats and good luck!!!!
  23. Wow congrats!!! Good luck with the interview!!! Which program did you apply to?
  24. Yeah same here. We are going to have to be patient.
