  1. So it sounds pretty manageable in the first few years. I guess it depends what type of research a person is doing and which program one gets accepted to. Which school are you transferring to? What are you research interests? Part of me regrets not applying to UVA, but I think I didn’t have the greatest matches there, which is why I dropped it off the list in the end.
  2. Wow cool, I was so close to applying there. I have heard they have a great program. Can I ask you something, how many hours a week do you spend on classes/lab work/TAing?
  3. I would say you should go for it. Your personal experience will be an asset to you and the faculty by providing you with a novel perspective. The diversity statements are there to demonstrate what unique experiences you can bring to the academic community.
  4. I know one of mine does for sure and I am freaking out as well! Which programs did you apply to? I feel like time is moving so slowly because I am too eager to see what is going to happen in these coming months.
  5. I feel so relieved my last recommender finally submitted his letters last night! My applications are now all officially submitted. ?
  6. Oh ok great that’s why I was wondering because I am currently living abroad and I am not sure I’ll be able to fly to the states at during that time. So the programs were pretty understanding about your situation then?
  7. Wow how awesome have a relaxing and much deserved vacation
  8. Hey does anyone know how flexible schools are with interviews? Do schools typically allow Skype interviews or are they very strict about in-person interviews?
  9. enjoy!!! After these apps, I am sure you deserve it!!! Where are you headed to?
  10. ??? same here. They would probably think I have OCD.
  11. Emotion regulation and expression are very interesting topics. I was really close to apply to the program at Dartmouth, but changed my mind in the end because I felt like it wasn’t the greatest fit for my research interests. Good luck ?! I am also applying to some stretch schools, but hey we have to give a try right?! Looks like you and I have similar taste in POIs, I applied to Stellar, Cunningham, and Plaks. Stellar is the main reason I applied though because of her work on empathy.
  12. I am also interested in affective neuroscience, more specifically its relationship to intergroup conflict through how individuals process stimuli related to adversarial group members. Thus, making my POI choices somewhat narrow, as that is a rather niche topic. Which POIs are you interested in at U of T? What other schools did you end up applying to?
  13. You too!! Hopefully we can make the same cohort
  14. Gerard Saucier and Sara Hodges. What about you?
  15. https://www.owu.edu/files/resources/statement-of-purpose-2.pdf This is a link to someone’s SOP who was accepted at Ann Arbor. https://psychology.unl.edu/psichi/Graduate_School_Application_Kisses_of_Death.pdf This is an article written about things not to include in your statement. Hope these help
  16. Wow that sounds like a great sign ? !!!?
  17. I am also feeling a little nervous about my applications and still waiting on one of my advisors to send his recommendations letters to my final three applications. I ended up applying to 8 schools this application season: UMass (Amherst), University of Boulder Colorado, Harvard, University of Toronto, Washington Univeristy of St Louis, Princeton, university of Oregon, and Clark. Good luck everyone, I hope we all get some offers!!!
  18. I’m interested in intergroup conflict, prejudice, affective/social neuroscience, existential threats, and empathy.
  19. So I too have just submitted 8 applications and fingers crossed? we both get accepted to at least one place ?! I am with you for celebrating!!! Congratulations on finishing 9 apps and good luck!
