I've been lurking often but am getting antsy enough to ask: anyone know when we are supposed to hear back from Yale neuro (post-interview)?

I know they mentioned early March but I notice past years people got unofficial notices in late February? It's my top choice so I really want to just know if I do get rejected. Thanks!

I got an acceptance call today! the prof who called me said it was up to applicants' individual faculty contacts whetehr they'd call the applicant or not, so if you dont get a call right away its not a problem. but acceptances are going out within the next week. hope i didnt stress you out more than i'm sure you already are ?

Has anybody heard from the direct neuro route at University of Michigan? I saw on here and on the results page at least one person heard back but it doesn't seem like they've sent out their invites yet or maybe the majority of people who applied there aren't on gradcafe...

Just curious - it's a later one so maybe they've just been holding off.

I got a call Dec 14th from the director. Since talking to grad students, i’ve heard they’re done sending out invites for now until they have a count on the number of people who accept them, and as people decline the interview they plan to invite some more.

The fact remains. Preference should have been given to those who applied for that specific program.

Hey, It's me you're talking about. I haven't fully clarified the situation, but the short explanation is yes I applied to OHSU NGP, was invited for an interview with Behav Neuro, and waitlisted by NGP.

The long explanation is... longer. I spent a hugely long time on the phone with directors of both NGP and Behav Neuro, talking about which program is more applicable to my interests, because I didn't want to pay both application fees. On multiple days at SfN, I spent a long time at OHSU's booths, talking to current students and faculty about which program to apply to, and subsequently getting my name in their door. I invited members of both admissions committees to come to my poster, to see what my research interests were, and further discuss what program I should be applying to. So even though I ended up only applying to the NGP, I had huge amounts of contact with Behav Neuro, who probably were interested in my application and offered to review it when the NGP made their decision.

The reason I share this is because it shows that the personal aspect of the application process... through my personal interactions with these people, I was able to secure an interview. I would really advise against "making a stink" about it, since this alone has shown how much your personal interactions can influence the decisions.

  4. big long post ahead, only read it if you're interested in any program at OHSU hahaha

Hey ya'll, I'm that person who applied to OHSU Vollum/NGP and got an interview invite for Behavioral Neuro.

Interestingly enough, I just got the official "waitlist" notification from Vollum. So it seems like there's some amount of crosstalk between programs... where Vollum got my app and handed it off to Behav Neuro because my interests are somewhat behavioral? Not sure what happened, but I'm grateful to interview at OHSU either way!

Also, the email said the following:
"We have made some invitations for interviews and will be making other interview invitations in early to mid January depending on the availability of interview slots. At this time, your application is on our "wait list," but we will update you on your status in January."

So it seems Vollum/NGP may be done sending invites, unless they just said that to ease my pain.

How many publications do you have? Do you mind posting your stats? I've heard nothing from OHSU yet. 1 publication in press, 1 under review, 1 in preparation. Master's (2nd: gpa 3.85 (health promotion sci.); 1st master's GPA was 3.76 (nutrition); undergraduate gpa 3.14 overall (in nutrition), did not submit GRE's to OHSU (waived), 2.5 years graduate research experience. Just received news of my first publication last week!

no publications. im applying straight out of undergrad, have been doing research in neuro since freshman year and done 2 full-time summer research programs at other schools. 3 reccs from pretty well-known PIs I've done research with, undergrad GPA of 3.8, GRE scores were good, and  >10 poster presentations, two at SfN. That's my stats, although I don't see the point comparing - everyone has such different experiences! I dont know if it's worthwhile.

    • Dear Myname,
    • We have received your application for the 2019/20 academic year.
    • Thank you,
    • Our Admissions Committee will soon begin deliberations to determine interviewees. We anticipate completing these deliberations by December 21, 2018 and plan on a single interview date of Friday February 22, 2019. Interviewees arrive on Thursday February 21 and depart on Sunday February 24. We now request that you hold these dates open. We will make interview offers in late December.
    • If you are unable to come for an interview, your chance of being admitted to our graduate program may be reduced. Thanks again and please call or email if you have any questions.

I didn't apply to Behavioral Neuro, I applied to the Vollum/NGP, and I didn't receive this email... but I was invited on Monday to interview with Behavioral Neuro. I also didn't receive this email, but that may just be because I applied through a different department.

This is IGP...the umbrella program that encompasses neuro. They will ask for your specific interests on the phone to match you with faculty interviews. You can rotate in any of their 12 disciplines. So yes, I believe they will be the same!

oh ok i'm just wondering because I applied through the NGP. so im wondering if I should be on the lookout for a call rn.. but probably not since it's different programs.
