  1. I'm interested in evolutionary quantitative analysis as well. I was wondering if you or anyone had any insight into the CUNY EEB program? How did you go about ranking your programs of interest? I only applied local around the Northeast area.
  2. I submitted my app around November 30 as well. I wish they would have told me that my application had been rejected instead of saying that its still under review. I hope the other poster has better luck than I did.
  3. When did you submit your application for Columbia? I think they also notify students about interviews more than one month prior
  4. Did they just email you "your application is still under review"?
  5. For the school I did this interview for they told me that me getting a fellowship would help out that particular PI since she may or may not have funding. I was told that even if I did not receive the fellowship, she would just secure funding for me through other means. Fellowship would also mean that I wouldn't have to TA to get my stipend. I guess it really depends and funding is something you can chat about on skype.
  6. Treat it like any other interview. I think this is supposed to be an informal interview before they nominate applicants for a fellowship. The fellowship nominees must be declared fairly early. For your preparation, I would focus on what you like about Duke. Also have a clear idea about the questions you wish to pursue in graduate school.
  7. I had one interview with a faculty member whose work was very unfamiliar to me. She went over her research in depth so I could understand, but we mostly talked about why I applied to Mt. Sinai and what my actual research goals are.
  8. Mine did not include any of the faculty that I picked on my application. It's really not a big deal. The MTA directors will have the final call on who gets in. I would definitely talk to both directors + faculty you're interested in working with on the first or second day during lunch hours.
  9. Only accept if this is your absolute first choice. If you're unsure and was hoping to use the interview experiences to gauge which school would be a right fit, then don't do get strong armed. I mean you have probably worked very hard and spent a lot of money applying to all those schools and have earned those interview weekends. The other program shouldn't try to force an immediate answer.
  10. Good luck! It was a great interview experience for me.
  11. The student interview was actually 20 minutes. Each student interviewed 3 applicants within one hour. It was very relaxed and the only thing that they asked me was about what my research was. The faculty interviews were also very relaxed. They just ask you about your research. I think I only spent 2-3 minutes on that and then most of the interview was spent talking about their own research or things about the school. I do recommend that you read their previous papers. This place just became my first choice. If you hear anything about post interview acceptance rates for this year would you mind updating this thread?
  12. Should I send thank you emails after interviews? Just finished my interview at a biomedicine program. I talked to the interviewers for 30 minutes and the weekend was spent with other faculty members, students, and "upperclassmen". I don't want it to seem tacky or want to seem insincere
  13. Want to ask any current students or past interviewees about what the interview was like (for biomedical science). What sort of questions were you asked? Do you have any idea on what a persons odds are (for admission) after being invited for an interview? Any general tips on how to do well? This is my first academic interview so I'm nervous.
  14. Does anyone know if they send out emails in batches? Since there's been five individual posts for interviews on GradCafe already, I am just going to assume that I have been rejected.
