  1. this may vary widely, but how long after your informal interview did it take to hear back that you were invited to the next round?
  2. I was told Feb 8 or 10 (around then, POI wasnt 100% sure). So I wonder if it does in fact vary, I guess its only really a diff of one week so maybe they have two weekends for alternates if one cant make weekend A
  3. I had two interviews today with one of my top choices for clinical psych grad programs, and I want to share what has really already been suggested here, but I want to reiterate because I don't think this link has been posted.... before interviews, you guys might want to check out this site! I pleasantly surprised my POI today in my interview for having knowledge of my preferred POI's current NIH grants as they werent listed on their website so Im assuming they guessed I really did do my research--I did, but to be very honest this website really helped! It really opens up a new game changer of potential questions you can ask your POI('s). https://projectreporter.nih.gov/reporter.cfm
  4. So, I am asking for a friend (no, really I am, Im not being cliched-lol) if they heard back from SUNY-Buffalo, school psychology, and asked for interview, except asked to interview with two mentors she never even mentioned in her personal statement or on her application, does this automatically mean she wont be eligible for mentorship under her preferred POI or does it not really matter who she interviews with? any information from you guys would be very helpful for us!!!
  5. Wouldnt it be so much easier if the results page just showed who posted their results! I know, that would render it not helpful for those who want complete anonymity but I feel fruitless in just randomly throwing out comments "hey pennstate poster PLease let me know who you are so I can ask you details if you dont mind!" --I mean I'm still doing that but its very much--not working lol hey you who posted about PennState and Univ. Alabama Birmingham, you wanna throw me bone?
  6. Hi, sorry to post this in another second forum, but I am d y i n g. lol. If the PennState forum results poster could comment so I could message you (if youre okay with this!) I would so highly appreciate it! I have been waiting and waiting and.... waiting ...to hear back from them as I know their interview invite deadline is fast approaching!
  7. Could the person who posted on the results page about PennState post on here so I can message you?Would love to know more as I and one of my other summer internship friends are anxiously waiting to hear back from PSU!
  8. I heard back from their clinical program yesterday, and I know different depts but my POI’s did say that they had only finished reviewing applications just yesterday so my guess would be that by the end of next week everyone should begin hearing back. They received an astronomical amount of applicants this year (at least for the clinical program which I know is completely different but you never know, just passing Along what I’ve heard)
  9. School: Florida International University Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of invite: January 08 Type of invite: Personal email from POI Interview date(s): Offer for phone interview with two different POI's next week This is my first interview invite for this year and my first ever application round (and hopefully last!) SO excited and grateful for this opportunity. I cant stop reading the email!!
  10. I met about half of the POI’s I applied to at the ABCT conference this past November in DC. I have received one interview so far from one school where two POI’s want to schedule preliminary phone interviews with me for next week. Cold emailing is very good but ultimately (I think) if you have really good stats across the board, it potentially comes down to who you know and who your LOR writers know
  11. Thanks you guys! I posted it. FIU has started reaching out to anyone reading and wondering. I was told they have concluded their application reviews, but according to the posts on this website from previous years I think it is still very early for them
  12. I just received my first interview invite via email for phone interviews with two POI’s with my day/time of choosing! This was one of my very tops!! Quick question for you guys: I’m afraid to post anything about it on the results page (and I know I don’t have to) because it was a personal email but I’m wondering what the general consensus is on who you do and /or don’t tell that you received an offer to interview over the phone? Like is it consider rude to discuss anything about it and that’s why everyone here is so secretive about POI’s? This is my first time in the ring. Also how long does it take after interviews to find out? Im so completely blown away. This school just finished reviewing apps and no one else has posted about this school yet which is why I don’t want to say anything just yet on details
  13. I wonder what your opinion on this may be, one of my schools has an interview deadline listed on there in red for January 14th. Is it safe to assume that if I havent received an email yet (as they just emailed me that my GRE scores were finally updated after being stuck in limbo) that I still have a chance of receiving an invite? Im deeply afraid I am going to get an email for an interview about 2 weeks before the interview weekend and not have enough time to get a flight that is within my price range.
  14. Thank you for this!! Now, can I ask (if you may know) how long after reviewing, they usually make first contact? I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting on that email lol
  15. Has anyone heard from or even waiting on SUNY-Buffalo? I can’t find anything on this school on here present or past. or UMASS-Amherst? I’ve seen multiple posts for UMass Boston but no Amherst.
  16. Ahhh every other dept has posted about UMD-CP except their clinical! If someone sees this and /has/ been contacted about clinical, give a shout!
  17. What’s positively killing me is that because of a technical glitch two of my very top schools didn’t transfer over my transcripts to my faculty dept for review or either could not find my GRE scores. I spent hours on the phone with admissions offices last week and many emails later it seems to have all worked out but it’s up in the air if it will ultimately hurt me that it was only worked out last week and not sooner. I’m looking forward to this weekend ending just so I can check my inbox on Monday. ((Not that I am not currently checking it because I AM)) I had notifications for this website turned on to email me when posts were made on certain topics and I had to turn that off immediately as I was getting “Phantom vibration syndrome” lol. This whole process is like an anxiety hierarchy. -you get more and more anxious waiting for an email to be asked for an interview. -then when you get an interview invite you stress over the actual interview and waiting on D-Day interview weekend -then what, idk how long it takes after the interview to find out, do they tell you before you leave or make you wait another week or more? THEN once you actually get in (YAY!) ... graduate school starts in what six months from now? And that’s 5-7 years of ongoing hellish stress and anxiety. If I was a smart person. I would have never joined this site until after getting invited lol... in a perfect world I would be able to forget about this whole process until one day, “oh, look at that! X and Y and Z sent me interview invites, huh, it’s already February? My how the time flies!” BUT NO I’m here because I guess I’m a masochist hahah well this killed ten minutes.
  18. Thanks!! Which school in Florida was it and when were you asked to interview? If you dont mind me asking.
  19. What time of day is everyone usually getting their emails for interviews? I know it is very probable that it varies so widely... but maybe there is a method to the madness?
  20. Great idea! If anyone happens along this thread and has been invited for interview with FIU or FSU, could you post their initials? Also, same for PennState or UMaryland-College Park, and UMASS-Amherst? lol
  21. thank god! I actually was just able to get my application sent to my faculty department for review today... they had my transcripts but were holding them because of a miscommunication...I spent hours on the phone with them yesterday. So I am hoping my app wont be delayed also, how does everyone seem to know when they will be contacted for interview if they will be contacted? like FIU for example, are you going off of past years?
  22. Same, please! sorry for quoting you and giving you a false notification, I havent heard from pennstate yet
  23. I have it on good authority from a graduate professor/mentor that FIU indeed does NOT look at GRE as top priority before looking at anything else like other schools, they look at all materials simultaneously. However, Ohio University does, so much so that even though I did an REU NSF summer internship with them this past summer and had numerous contacts throughout the clinical psych department, they woulldnt even look at my application because my GRE score was right below the pre-determined cutoff. Any big school like for instance UC-Berkley will most definitely use GRE scores first (except Harvard and Yale for some reason) as it very easily cuts down the amount of applications they will actually have to read through.... which is a conundrum for me on why OU uses GRE scores so heavily because they do not get nearly as high admission applicant rates as say Berkeley, but their reasoning is they use it because a lot of the faculty on admissions still think it is a good detector of how well someone will do in graduate school and if they will be able to complete their dissertations on time others that dont look at the GRE as closely include (and I only know of the ones I have looked into and applied to) UMASS-Amherst, SUNY-Buffalo, Univ. Maryland college park, and I have heard PennState doesnt look as hardly but if someone can officially confirm this for me that would be great.
